Process

I first sketched out several ideas and searched online for inspiration. The
company name is in reference to Brigham City, which is known locally as
Peach City. The citys annual celebration is Peach Days and there are still
several peach orchards in the area. The other landmark that is famous in the
area is the large welcome to Brigham City arch over main street. I decided
this logo was the best for the audience I am trying to reach because it has
the large peach in the shape of their beloved city sign. Locals are proud
of their city and really appreciate anything that shares that pride. This logo
is also the one that had the most votes by a long shot. I first hand drew the
large peach arch and then used the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to trace
and refine it. I chose the script font to give the design a more personal feel,
like a hand written letter.

Objectives

To inform the audience of an upcoming pet adoption event.

Process

I started this project by making several sketches of ideas I had. Theres
a local photographer that takes really fun pictures of pets at the shelter to
help them get adopted. I decided to base my theme around these pictures.
I wanted to create the feeling of the dogs as teenagers posting selfies of
themselves. I wated to show that dogs each have a unique personality.

I used Photoshop to edit, crop the small photos of the dogs in the
filmstrip. I then used the selection tool to select delete the background on
the large photo of the group picture of dogs.

I used Illustrator to create a new logo. I wanted something simple
because I wanted the focus to be the pictures of the dogs. I used the shape
tools to create a red triangle and half circle to create the roof of a dog
house. I inserted the text below to create the illusion of a dog house, using
the words as the base of the house.

I used Indesign to put the elements together. I used the offset brochure
layout. I pulled the ruler guides to the appropriate places to use as a guide
for the elements. I wrapped the text on the inside of the brochure around the
large dog photo, by using the text wrap option with alpha channel.

Objectives

I want to inspire the person viewing my montage. We all have the

opportunity and power to change the world and make it a little better.

Process

I cropped the background image to 118.5 inches. Next, I added the

image of the earth by using the ellipse selection tool and moving it to the
background image. I then added a mask to the earth layer and used the
black paint set to 100% opacity to only allow the pixels that I wanted to show
through. Using this technique allowed me to create the illusion that they
woman is holding the earth in her hands. I used the white brush to define her
fingers around the earth. The original background was a dark forest. I wanted
a brighter, happier feel to the image. I used the rectangle tool to select the
image of the sky, grass and flowers and then dragged it to the background
image. I then created a mask on the sky/grass image and used the black
brush at 100% opacity and 30% opacity to gradually blend the images
together. I added a Gaussian blur filter to the sky/grass image so it would
match with the blur of the woman. I wanted to keep the earth and hands as
the only crisp, in focus elements on the page. I added two contrasting fonts to
create emphasis and interest to the Nelson Mandela quote.

Objectives

The fundraiser is a family event with STEM activities. The money raised will
benefit the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club.

Process

I used an HP scanner to scan a high resolution image onto my computer. I

choose this picture because it grabbed my attention the first time I saw it
and it made me smile. I also liked the white space on the left side of the
child to put words onto the picture. I chose a font that looked like sidewalk
chalk to write onto the picture. I used the large arrow and small bullet point
arrows to create repetition and rhythm in the picture. I tried to create a flow
using the rocket on the childs back to draw your eyes to the title and then
down to the arrow with the date.

Objectives

Music is a part of all of us. A lot of people are deeply connected to their
music and use different songs and musical outlets daily in their lives.

Process

I used a Canon Digital Camera and a Samsung Digital Camera to take photos
of my daughter. I wanted to use this quote that is one of her favorites, so I had
her dress in white and black with a little red on her shirt and fingernails. We
used her red and white electric guitar and found a neutral building to take her
picture next to. I wanted to do a monochromatic color scheme with red to
focus on the life and heart theme of the quote. I then used Adobe Photoshop
to use basic edits and tools to create a vibrant and pleasing image. The lines
and typography are all colors pulled from the photo, mainly from the colors on
the guitar. I printed my project using my HP printer.

Objectives

I created a professional feel to this flier to attract the attention of graduates

looking for a leadership position.

Process

After reading through the material given, I sketched several ideas out on
paper. When I found the design I liked the best, I used it as a guide in Adobe
Indesign. I created a focal point on the photo by enlarging it and framing
it with diagonal black lines to contrast and balance the rest of the flier. The
repeating diagonal lines of the photo and the slanted word alignment
creates a good flow for the reader to find the important information. I used a
large font for the title and subtitles to add emphasis and used small body text
for the rest of the information. I was given the text, logo, and photo to use in
this flier.

Mann, Hadfield and Thorne is a professional law firm that has been serving
the community for almost 50 years. I wanted to show a classic, professional
design.

Process
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logo. I wanted something simple that
would connect to the legal profession and the firm name. I chose the simple
design on the scales of justice. I used the pen tool to create the design
based on an image I found online. I created the hexagon with a drop
shadow using the rectangle tool and multiplying the sides. Once the logo
was designed I opened it into Indesign to create the matching letterhead
and business card.
Using the shape and effects tools in Indesign, I added the large rectangles
with the drop shadow. I then used the text tool to add the text to the page.

A simple design for a preschool teacher.

Process

I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logo. I wanted something simple that
would connect to the curiousity of preschoolers. I placed the caterpillar
to appear like it is crawling onto the page. Once the logo was designed I
opened it into Indesign to create the matching letterhead and business card.
Using the shape and effects tools in Indesign, I added the large rectangles
with the drop shadow. I then used the text tool to add the text to the page.

Objectives

The process used to design the logo for Peach City Designs.

Process

I used Notepad ++ to create the webpage. I have previously taken an

introduction class to HTML and CSS so I used my limited knowledge, along
with the HTML and CSS checker to create this page.
I wrote the code and information in the HTML file and then attached my
CSS file. Using the eyedropper tool in Photoshop, I was able to pull the hex
color codes from my logo to add them to the webpage. I found two fonts
that I like and thought looked good with my logo on Google Fonts, they are
Arimo and Vidaloka. After inserting the link to these fonts, I added the
additional backup fonts in case the viewers browser is unable to view them.
I added padding around the top header to bring some focus to the title. I
also changed the link at the bottom of the page leading the viewer to my
blog. For the list, I changed the width to 90% to create an indent for visual
interest.
