1. Topic: Means of Transportation


2. Justification
The following didactic unit entitled "Means of Transportation" is very
important because children have the opportunity to work the
vocabulary related to different Means of transportation that are in our
environment. Our proposal is important because means of
transportation are very useful and essential in our society.
It is necessary to differentiate their characteristics and teach children
the importance of vocabulary to reflect about the ethnic diversity of
other cultures, as mentioned in the foreign Language Curriculum
guidelines (MEN, 1992)
Students profiles and educational place description
It is aimed at students from transicin grade. Children are between 5
and 6 years old.
The school is located in La Calera. The school is Paulo VI and it is a
private, and rural school. It does not have a bilingual emphasis. The
classroom is large, bright and has technological resources.
3. Objectives
Learn the basic vocabulary of the different means of
transportation.
Recognize the use of means of transportation.
Identify means of transportation: land, water and air.
6. Methodology
Learning should be constructed as meaningful learning . To do this: Know the needs, interests and characteristics of students to ensure
motivation We will consider their prior knowledge. We will create
situations as opportunities to experiment with new experiences and
reorganize their cognitive schemata . We will teach with games ,
videos , songs and activities online.
Two classes with 2 (letter) sessions will be held 2 hours each one .
The first will work with virtual flashcards , where children learn a song
about means of transportation and rocognize the names of the
means of transportation. In the second class we will work with the
virtual story , the children answer a few questions and learn
transportation and their functions.

7. Resources
Paper Flashcards , sheets, outputs , magazine clippings, mural ,
virtual story " Stuart the airplane" , colors , workshops, virtual
flashcards.
8. Lesson Plan Development
For this Project you will create 2 lesson plans.
No. 1: Using the virtual flashcards
No. 2: Using the virtual story-book (in the lesson plan copy the link of
your virtual story-book)

Lesson No. 1
Vocabulary: Motor bike,
airplane, car, helicopter, bike,
bus, skateboard, hot air
balloon, submarine, boat.
Commands
Materials: virtual flashcards,
Video, WORKSHEETS, song,
colors, cd, card, color, pencil,
eraser, paint, paper, brushes,
scissors.

Objectives: Learn the basic vocabulary of the different means of


transportation.
Recognize the means of transportation and their use.
Identify means of transport : land, water and air
Presentation:
The teacher greets the children Hello guys! To which they respond: Hi
teacher! Then ask them How are you? They will answer very good!
the teacher will have a box with the means of transportation toys.
Children, one by one, go ahead and take out a toy from the box.
The teacher shows in the TV the virtual flashcard of the child took out and
all children must repeat the name in English.
This exercise is repeated until they leave all means of transport selected.

Practice:
Later, the teacher uses the virtual flashcard but only the image and
children should say the name of each means of transportation in English
and whenever respond well, the teacher will give a card about the means
of transportation the child said.
After guessing the teacher asks the children in and they must answer in
English.
Some of the riddles are:
My Way is the iron can not go out, Chaca - Chaca - Chaca -cha A machine pulls me .
(Train).
I have no bird wings and soy , have no tail and soy fish , and if you want to fly around
the world in my belly got you away. ( Airplane)

Production:
Children create a Picture Dictionary.
The teacher gives children guides black and white image means of
transportation.
They should decorate, color and write the corresponding name in English,
after they put the papers together as a book and create the cover of their
dictionary.
This picture dictionary is socialized with their peers.
