Sign In/Sign Up

Open the Library Homepage in an internet browser: http://libraryweb.utep.edu/


o Use Firefox or Chrome. Some issues occur when using Internet Explorer. See p. 8.
Click on letter R for RefWorks under the Articles & Databases tab (see below):

Sign in OR
Sign Up for a New Account with RefWorks.
o Using your student email, fill in the Account and User Information:

Creating Folders

1. Click on the New Folder button.


2. Give the new folder a name and click the Create button.
3. To create a sub-folder within another folder:
a. Click on the New Folder button.
b. Click on the Create Subfolder link seen here
c. This opens an additional window, where you can choose the Parent (main) folder and
name the sub-folder:

d. Select the Parent Folder, you want and name the new subfolder and click the Create
button.
For example: Here I created a Research Paper folder within my UNIV 1301 folder.

Create a Bibliography/Reference List


There are two ways to create a
bibliography or reference list using
RefWorks.
The first is in RefWorks using the
Create Bibliography button. The
second is using the Write-N-Cite tool
within Microsoft Office Word.

In RefWorks:
1. Click Create Bibliography button.

2. Notice References to Include:


a. Selected: If you check off only a few of the sources used.
b. Page: If you used all those on the current page.
c. All in List: If the list spills into more than one page, than this selects all within those
pages.
3. Output Style: This allows you to choose what citation style you need, such as APA, MLA,
Chicago, etc.
4. File Type
a. Text Opens in internet browser.
b. HTML Opens in internet browser formatted.
c. Word for Mac Creates a word file.
d. Word for Windows Creates a word file.

Write-N-Cite in a Word Document


To download Write-N-Cite

If downloading for the first


time, choose the right
download file for your
computer. If you choose
wrong, the program will
cancel the download & ask for

After installing Write-N-Cite, when you open Microsoft Office Word, you should see the ProQuest
tab.

Login
Login via User Name and Password OR
use the Logon Code from your RefWorks
account.

Style allows you to


choose the citation
style you want toSuccessful
use, i.e. APA, MLA, Login
etc.

Insert Citation
allows you to
insert in-text
citations as you
write your paper.

Bibliography
Options allows
you to insert,
remove, or format
your bibliography.

RefGrab-It:
This tool allows you to
cite just about any
website you are on and
imports it into RefWorks.

RefGrab-It link &
drag into your
Bookmarks
Toolbar in your
internet browser.
