Public speaking topic: Must students go for tuition or not?

Nowadays, we can tuition centres every corner of the town. This is because of the rise of
tuition –going pupils. Especially in Malaysia, students have started to depend on tutors instead
of studying by themselves. The question is, does a student of secondary or even primary school
levels need to go for tuition? I believe that students need not go for tuition. Despite the fact
that many straight A’s students are produced by tuition centres.

Currently, going for tuition has become a trend. This phenomenon can be found in the
midst of teenagers who find themselves in peer pressure due to the increasing popularity of
tuition- going. In our fast paced technological era, everyone wants to have things done in an
instant. Therefore this also includes the effort of acquiring knowledge. With so many activities
in life to handle, many students thought that by attending tuition classes, they can save time on
studying. That is why, many tuition centres provide students with compact notes that is easily
readable at all time.

Tuition is definitely not a necessity in school- going student’s life. Although some
students may claim that studying with a tutor is much effective, but I however find that a
student can actually save their tome of travelling to and fro the tuition centres, and concentrate
more on their individual effective study methods. Most importantly the study methods that a
student use carries on till to the future. Hence, it is especially essential for students to acquire
their specific ways of confidence and courage in their studies during schooling years preferably,
because this can prepare them for a brighter future.

We should realize the fact that more tuition –going students in the society has brought
about more enrollments in the registration of each tuition centre. Since this is the case, we can
conclude that the number of students in each class has increased. Thus will cause a class to be
much pack and difficult not only for the students to concentrate, but to also gain personal
attention from the tutors.

Now, we come back to the actual function of tuition. It actually provides students better
understanding of the subjects taught at school. Somehow or rather the function has been
transformed drastically into a social club. My conclusion of this topic is that we should really
take into serious consideration the decision of whether to attend tuition classes or not. Think
wisely, because this will eventually involve a lot of time and money besides our parent’s burden
and effort. After all, what we really need is progress in our studies, and quality learning.
Therefore I once again urge you all to make a smart choice.
