Lesson
Procedure

Teaching point:
- What is respect?
- Respect is when someone is: kind, helpful, friends,
honest, responsible
- Respect does: help others, shares, words hard, invites
friends, listens the first time, listens to all teachers,
obeys the rules even if teachers arent watching, wait
their turn, looks into others eyes
- Respect sounds like: please, thank you, Im sorry,

how are you, can I help you

Respect is not: rude, mean, impatient, a gossiper, a
tattle tale, an interrupter

Active engagement:
- Now its your turn. I need some volunteers to help me
show what it means to be respectful by acting
- If you are still sitting on the carpet I want you to close
your eyes, and think about what are some ways a
respectful person may sound, how may they act, what
may they say
- Things to act out: (after students act out role plays, ask
remaining students to think of ways they could have
been respectful and what they could have done
differently
o Ways of not being respectful hands shakes,
ignore the person, and look away. Do not make
eye contact
o Interrupting: while a student is talking, have the
other student interrupt on purpose
o Accidently hits the pencil out of their hand and
doesnt help them pick it up
o Showing sympathy
PreAssessment of Students
Have students raise their hands for how many students
know what respect is. Ask students to raise hands if
they think theyre respectful.
Modeling of the Concept
I will model the concept by telling the students ways to
be respectful and giving scenarios for respect is, does,
and say.
Guiding the Practice
I will guide the entire lesson.
Providing the Independent Practice
Students will be able to voice their views on respect,
ways they are respectful, and ways they can improve
respectfulness
Transition
Students will transition by being called by table and
answer with different clap patterns.
