Rioja Wines

D.O.C. Rioja is the most prestigious wine
regin in Spain. It is known for its fruity and elegant
wines, which traditionally have been made of tempranillo grapes. Rioja wines have an excellent potential for
ageing, a quality that is exclusive to great wines.

The first document to make reference to protecting and ensuring the quality of Rioja wines dates
from 1650. Even before in 1102, King Sancho of Navarra legally recognized our prestigious wines. Nowadays
Rioja wines are the most successful Spanish wines
around the world.

Our Winery

Bodegas Altanza was born in October 1998
as a result of a group initiative made up by Rioja entrepreneurs. Bodegas Altanza is engaged exclusively
in the process of elaborating high quality red wines,
Reserva and Gran Reserva. It is located in Fuenmayor,
heart of the wine region Rioja Alta in La Rioja. Bodegas Altanza represents an innovative concept in the
process of wine production.

Bodegas Altanza combines tradition and
modernity within its founding structure as well as the
wine. As such, the building combines a traditional Rioja wine cellar architecture made up of solid handmade
brick, a stone faade or Arabic tile. The same pattern
applies to wine. In the elaboration process the winery
uses the traditional vertical press, 100% Tempranillo
grapes for all its wines. Moreover, the winery has recovered the use of Allier French oak vats of 20,000
litres of capacity. The objective is to make a classic
Rioja wine with a modern touch. Traditional for its
distinctive sharpness but with an added hint of colour,
volume and structure, in accordance to the wines the
consumer demands nowadays.

club became Spanish, European and World champion in a single season.
For this reason we have created, as a tribute, a very fruity wine that
evokes aromas like red fruit, blackberry, and notes of liquorice.

aged in fine quality new French oak barrels using exclusively the finest
Tempranillo grapes from our oldest vines.
