Arguing the

Research
Spoken Argumentation and Synthesis
Paper

The Format
Introduction - Give background information about

your topic and your thesis. Feel free to more in this


introduction than you would in a timed essay. Use the
introduction to build a foundation of understanding.
Body Sections (3)- Present and explain your
evidence. Each section has its own subtopic.
Conclusion - Use your conclusion to expand the
ideas or to deepen your thesis. Dont merely
summarize. Again, do more than you would in a timed
essay.

Using The Research


1. Each section must synthesize AT LEAST three (3)
pieces of evidence.
2. Each piece of evidence must be fully introduced and
explained. Be sure to connect all evidence to ideas and
thesis.
3. You will draw on your Turn It In research and essays
that youve read this year first. However, you may
supplement with outside research as well.

The Presenters
1. Every person in the group presents.
2. Assign a section to a person.
3. Each section must be a subtopic that
clearly supports the thesis.
4. Each person will receive a grade from
their group at the end of the
presentation.

The Presentation
1. Your presentation must include support for
evidence. That can be pictures, quotes,
graphs, etc. Select information that will help
the audience understand your evidence.
2. You can have as many slides as you want,
but each section must have at least one
slide.

Works Cited Page


1. You must provide a complete Works Cited page
that includes every source used in the presentation.
You must provide a hard copy of the Works Cited
on the day you present. You only need to include
what you use for evidence, not the visuals in the
presentation.
2. The students responsible for the introduction and
conclusion will work on this together for the group.
