Lesson Title: Jeopardy Trivia

general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather
vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase
important to comprehension or expression.

How did the Constitution get to become what it is?

Topical question(s):

Who was considered the Father of the Constitution?


What does it mean to formally withdrawal?
What does it mean to give formal approval?
What is popular sovereignty?
Students will be able to answer the trivia questions given so they
are prepared for the test the next day.
Formative Assessment:
Students actively participating in their groups and helping them get
the correct answer. Students are responsible for coming up with the
answers in their groups and writing them on their groups white
board.

Instructional Procedures

Summative Assessment:
At the end of the trivia game, we will see which group of students
has the most points.
There are some students that need to be grouped with higher
learning students because they are not as active in class discussions.
None of them are on IEPs or Special Education plans.
Grouping some of the lower learning students with higher learning
students.
Students will have to rearrange desks so they are able to get into
their groups.

Learning Activities:

5 min-Prepare for jeopardy trivia review game: randomly select


students with deck of cards to split them into groups, have students
move desks together for their designated group, handout
whiteboards and markers.
2 min-Explain Jeopardy review game and tell them about the
topics, have students randomly pick a number between 1 and 50
and whichever group gets closest picks first topic.
35 min-play review game interactively with students making sure
they are keeping score and working collaboratively.

Closure:

5 min-Go over each teams score and find out which team won,
hand out prizes for winning teams and smaller prizes for teams that
still participated.

Academic Language

Much of the language used in the Jeopardy trivia game is very


vocabulary heavy and they need to know many of these terms for
the test. A few terms are: Repeal, Levy, Quorum, Confederation,
Repeal, Bicameral, Representation, Legislative.
