For this process, explore the world through these steps:
Step 4: Write down a brief reflection of
your experience.
Step 3: Make an inventory of its available
resources and classify them according to their
characteristics and functions.
Step 2: Ask the learning resource center in-charge
about how some equipment or facilities are used.
Step 1: Visit a schools learning resource center. Look

Your Toolsaround and see what resources and facilities are available
inside.

Impression:

These Learning Resources are very traditional and because of lack of budget of
the school, Department of Education cannot support this school in terms of facilities and the
school itself, I think the teacher think their own way on how to integrate the learning of the
student despite of lack of learning resources.

Your Analysis
Were the Learning resources/materials arranged properly according to their
functions and characteristics?
In Mapulang Lupa National High School, they are lack in some
learning materials but some of these, are used in a proper way, they used it for the
learning purposes and school events purposes, all of the students have a chance to
used it as long as it is related in school or learning purposes. They do not have a
center or room for the learning resources.
Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by
the teachers? Why? or Why not?
Yes, because it can help them to make the learning of the students
become effective, some of the learning resources are very useful, like xerox machine
and other lapels, despite of limited resources, the taking care of each of that. also the
students taking care for that.
What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?
They do not have that center or available room for the learning
resources aside from computer laboratory, but they used it purposively so that the
learners can manage their learning resources despite of lack of that learning
resources. All of the students have an equal chance to used that learning resources.
What are its weaknesses?
The weaknesses are they do not have a center and lack of materials
specially library that is very important in school. Those weaknesses are the factors
that can affect the learning resources, because sometimes they are rushing on some
lessons because of lack of learning resources.
What suggestions can you make?
The only way to overcome for that weaknesses is the financially help
coming from the government. But aside from that I think the students must study
hard despite of lacking in learning resources, because it is the only way as of now.

Your Reflections
1. Which of the materials in the learning resources caught your interest the most?
Why?
The lapel of the teachers, because it can help a lot specially that the
third floor of the school building is under renovation so some the two sections are
collaborating in one room, so as I observed, those lapels are very useful and it
can help the teachers to vary their voices.
2. Which gadgets/materials are you already confident to use/operate?
Aside for lapels I can also confident to operate some speakers and
microphone, I is very useful specially on the school events and announcements, I
think I can also manage some bulletin board by taking care of it and manage it to
become informative and current.
3. Which one do your feel need to learn more about?
Operating computers in computer laboratory specially if it has a defect
in hardware, I need to learn more about manipulating some CPUs, monitors and
some electronic materials in computer, I also need to learn some usage when it
comes in software.

4. Read an article about your answer in number 3. Paste a copy of the article below.

Myths and Realities About Technology in k12 Schools

Myth #3: Once teachers learn the basics of using a computer they are ready to put the
technology to effective use.
Teachers using computers in classroom instruction are often limited by
what they can present with computer technology. It's also difficult in many
situations to involve students in classroom discussions when using computer
technology. Since traditional instruction and teaching methods have worked
effectively for years, it can be counterproductive to implement technology in the
classroom.
The people conducting the research recognized five stages teachers went through
when implementing computer technology in their classroom instruction:
1) The first stage, also known as the entry stage, was a period where instructors
acted both enthusiastically and cautiously as they developed expertise in new
technology and outlined strategies for implementing it within their teaching
methods. Many teachers became apprehensive about the effort it often required to
apply the technology in their classrooms, which if not done right, served as a
distraction.
2) The second stage also known as the adoption stage, was a period where
teachers began implementing technology within their instruction without major
alterations
being
made
to
their
preferred
teaching
methods.
3) The third stage, also known as the adaptation stage, was a period where
technology became an everyday part of classroom instruction. Teachers frequently
used power point presentations, word processors, and other technologies to assist
them with their instruction. Many teachers could pin-point benefits during the
adaption
stage.
4) The fourth stage, also known as the appropriation stage, was a period where
instructors utilized technology within their classroom instruction without difficulty.
In many cases, teachers would not know what to do without it.
5) The fifth stage, also known as the invention stage, was a period where teachers
began to look for new ways to use technology in the classroom. For example, many
teachers began to use computers to enhance study programs students used to
prepare for exams. During the invention stage, students greatly benefitted

individually from the use of technology in the classroom. Many were better able to
solve problems by themselves and learn new concepts without the aid of a teacher.

Your Analysis
Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target
audience? Why? or Why not?
Yes, aside from it is informative but also the color and designs of the
bulletin board are attractive, and some of the information are related to the topic
they already discussed by their teachers.
Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to
understand? Why? or Why not?
Yes, they used English language except for the Filipino and Araling
Panlipunan. But they do not used words that is not familiar to the students, also the
spelling is correct.
What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective?
Why? or Why not?
Not just to give an information to the readers but for some
announcement and reminders purposes, yes it is effective because I think that most
of the students are aware for that announcements.
What suggestions can you make?
I think they have to take care of their bulletin boards specially in
durability because some of the bulletin board are already destroyed by some of the
students.

Based on your suggestions, purposed an enhanced version of the display board.

My Board Display Lay-out

Your Reflections
1. Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.

To be able to come up with effective board displays, the teacher should

be 1. creative in that way that he/she able to attract the observers and
readers, 2. resourceful, he/she able to use recycled materials, 3. thoughtful,
concerned about some information to be displayed, 4. passionate, for them to
love what they are doing, 5. smart in such way he/she knows the limit or the
content of the information to be displayed.

2. Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making
board displays. How do you practice these skills?
Resourceful, because I am very concern in the environment so that I
can also encourage readers to be resourceful also. It is very important not
only the content of your bulletin board but also concerned on the
environment.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or
acquire these skills.
Creative in designs, I think I need to improve my designs or think of a
way to catch the attention of the readers or observer, I just need to observe
also some creative board
so that I can learn from
them.

Subject: mathematics

Topic: Polygons

Grade/Year Level: Grade 7

The lesson is all about interior angles of different polygon. The teacher
used some protractor, ruler manila paper, marker and chalk-board. They used
protractor and ruler to measure different polygons specially in interior angles
of different polygons. It is very interesting for the students because they are
investigating the sum of interior angles of different polygons, this approach is
very authentic in such way that the students are not depending on the
theorems available but also discovering the facts about the sum of interior
angles of a certain polygon.

Your Analysis
What do you think prompted the teacher to choose the materials/learning
resources that he/she used?

They should always ready for some materials like cartolina or manila
paper and marker for visual aids, they should be creative also so that it can be a
motivation to the students. They should also ready for calculator or some materials
like ruler and bond paper, or any materials related to their subject matter.
What difficulties, if any, did the teacher experience? How can this be
managed?
Lack of some materials that can fit to number of students inside the
classroom, they can have managed it buy spending their own money just to buy
materials that can be used for the learning of the students. Sometimes the teachers
think their own way or the alternative way of choosing materials like books.
Over-all, were the learning resources/materials used effectively? Why?
Why not?
Yes, it is effective because the objectives or the desired goal are
achieving by the students. Learning materials used by the teacher is very effective
because the students understand it in easy way.

Your Reflections

1. Put yourself on the place of the teacher. What would you do similarly and what
would you do differently if you will teach the same lesson to the same group of
students? Why?
If I were on the place of the teacher, I will do the same thing like the
discovery approach and inductive method, but I will also use some cooperative
learning approach so that aside that I can manage the materials easily because it is
by group work, they can also share their ideas about the topic. I believe in
collaborative approach because the student can help each other, and it will be
lessening the materials or learning materials to be used.

Grade/Year Level: Grade 7 & 9

They do not have a resource center like library so that, the teachers
themselves provide their own materials that ca suit for the leanings of the
student. Materials like lapels are very useful specially in the grade 7, because
as we all know that they are very naughty and noisy, using lapel, they can
minimize the naughty attitude of the students in grade 7. Sometimes teacher
used manila paper, for visuals but most of the time they used only chalk-board.
One teacher used Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) in grade 9. And yet it
is very effective for those students who find difficulty about similarities of
triangles.

Your Analysis
Give at least three benefits of doing a survey of available materials before making your
own materials? Explain each.
1. You are aware of the availability of materials, if you are aware if this is
available or not, you can easily manage your lessons because if the materials
are not available, you can have a time to think some alternative materials for
that topic.
2. You are aware that the available materials can fit the number of your
students, if the materials are available you can manage also the number of
materials you will prepare that can use of all of your students.
3. You are aware that the available materials have no defects, because
sometimes, the materials are available but if we used it on the class, it has the
defect, but if you are aware, you can easily manage your resources materials.

Your Reflections
1. Which of the materials did you like making the most? Why?
Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) because instead of doing
reteach to those students who fail to achieve your objectives, you can give
them an intervene or SIM, it is very effective because it can help us educators
to diminish the difficulties of the students in particular subject areas. It can
also help those students who has a difficulty.
2. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the materials? How did you
overcome them?
Financially or lack of some materials, but I think to overcome this I
need to be resourceful like making visuals using a calendar (at the back),
some materials not only making visuals but making visuals creatively, we
dont need to buy some manila paper or anything if we have an available
material that can be recycled.
3. What tips can you give teachers regarding preparation of teaching materials?
You should prepare materials as early as possible, prepare some
designed visuals and be resourceful, you need to think a way on how to
manage materials that you cannot spend a lot of money. The important is, on
how you manage your materials not how your materials are expensive or
beautiful.

Your Analysis
After working with your hand-out, answer the following questions:
What are the good features of a hand-out?
It should be achievable and words are not so deep for the student to
understand your hand-out. It should have a clear directions or information so that
the student has not questions in their mind. It should be also creative.
Which of these features are present in the hand-out 1 made?
It is Discovery learning approach so it is more of student-centered.
Using this hand-out, I think the students understand more about properties of
quadrilaterals, it can also remain in their mind because of that discovery approach,
it can also appreciate by the students because of the integrations of the properties of
quadrilaterals. I can also easily facilitate the difficulties of the students about the
topic.

Which features are not present in the hand-out 1 made?

Creativeness, the hand-out should be creative for the student to attract
to your hand-out, attractiveness is very important for the motivation for the
students specially to those who find difficulties about properties of quadrilaterals.

Your Reflections
1. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the hand-outs? How did you
overcome them?
Aside of choosing a topic, I found difficulties in making hand-outs by
thinking most appropriate way on how the student be able to understand the
topic about properties of quadrilaterals and to overcome it I need to think
some ways like comparing different quadrilaterals.
2. What tips can you give teachers regarding preparation of hand-outs?
In preparing hand-outs, you need some references like books and
internets or notes regarding to your topic, you also need to work with your
creative thinking on how the students can easily understand your topic, and
how they can apply and integrate their learnings in real-life situation.

the viewers eye, it can also be a motivation for the students. It is also entertaining in

Which features are not present in the slide presentation you made?
I think all of the features are in the slide, but it needs an improvement
especially in content itself, it is lack of some examples and integration like word
problems. It is need an improvement for creativity.

Your Reflections
1. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the slide presentation? How
did you overcome them?

I found difficulties in making my slide presentations, and that is the

flow of my lessons, I found difficulties here because I dont even know how to
start because I am not so familiar on how to used it, unlike in tradition or the
chalk-board method, we can easily erase or change anything if you want. And
to overcome this problem, I need to be consistent and master the subject
matter, because if I already master the subject, I can easily know the flow of
my lessons.

Please write your reflections on your FS Experience on this page.

In this Field Study experience, I learned a lot specially on the learning

resources materials, I understand how this is very important in teaching- learning
process. How it is very effective in the learnings of the student. Learning
environment also a factor of the learning resources.
Not only the importance of the specific materials but more important is
how can you execute your materials, what is your consideration in preparing these
materials, what should be your characteristics in making and preparing materials.
It is very important to know as a future educator the importance of every material
you will used, because it can affect the learning and motivation of every student.
The support of the government in education, has been factor in learning
resource center. Because as I observed in Mapulang Lupa National High School,
they are so much lack of facilities and learning resources, and it is very important in
k-12 curriculum. Despite of this big problem, the teachers of Mapulang Lupa
National High School do their best to provide their own materials or think their own

ways to overcome this problem, and they did not fail to achieve every objective
because they are passionate.
Making materials that can suit to the learning of the students is very
important. Libraries, computer laboratory and other learning resource center is the
center for every material needed inside the room and in order to achieve your goal,
you need these center. Other facilities in school is also important in making a
cooperative and collaborative.
Technologies are also very important materials in in learning process,
especially now, that most of the students are engaged in technologies, it is also
important for the integration of your topic. Using technologies, can make the
learning process easier, the students become easily motivated by using technologies
and it is also the factor in achieving objectives and goals.
The passion and believing in God is the most important, because whatever
happen, if you love your profession, despite of lack of support and lack of anything,
you can do it. Doing the right thing is not only the key to success but also doing your
best no matter what happen. Just believe in yourself, nothing is difficult.
