BAROCEPTORS TEST USING THE DOWNING TEST

Aim:

To test micro wedges or thermoformed neutral or postural soles for

postural reprogramming.

Positions:

Same as for the Downing Test: patient in supine position, practitioner on

the side.

Technique:
1- The practitioner performs a benchmark Downing Test.
2- Test for postural soles: he stimulates the plantar soles, using 20
grams fingertips pressures. Yet again, a Downing Test is performed
and the changes evaluated.

3- Test for mechanical soles: the practitioner applies the whole of his
palms under the patients plantar soles, 20 grams pressure, in order
to get in contact with the largest possible number of baroceptors.
He performs another Downing Test and keeps the result in mind.
SARL IRFOR Modle dpos.

Results:

If, during the 2nd time, we obtain a negative or improved Downing: the
stimulation is efficient and should be applied.
If, during the 3rd time, we obtain a negative or improved Downing: the
stimulation is efficient and should be applied.
