Title: Picasso Pastel Portaits


Grade level (s): 3-4

Unit: African Art


Medium: Oil pastel; Chalk pastel

Suggested Time: Two Period


Instructional Objectives (2-3):
Students will learn how to create a three- dimensional pot. Be able to make an evenly
spiral with clay. Build a strong bottom structure to hold piece together.

Elements of Art (1-3) line, color, shape, form, space, texture, value

Principles of Design (1-3) repetition, pattern, movement, balance, emphasis, contrast, unity

Materials and Equipment: Black construction paper, pencil, oil pastel, chalk
pastel, glue

General Vocabulary (4-5): Picasso, Profile image, oil pastels, chalk pastels,
cubism

2. Gifted Allow student to help any other individual when glueing the outline

hands dont become messy.
