Administrative Support perform business operations through a variety of administrative and clerical duties including information and
communication management, data processing and collection, and project tracking.
Contained in this presentation are specific careers under the pathway of administrative support.

Event Planner
Responsibilities

Plan, design and produce events while managing all projects delivery elements within time limits.
Conduct market research, gather information and negotiate contracts prior to closing any deals.
Provide feedback and periodic reports to stakeholder
Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality

Requirements

Phenomenal communication skills

Excellent organization skills

Work experience in hospitality

Certification from professional event planning organization


Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree program in hospitality industry, communications,or public relations.


If interested in furthering education, one may take the event and management certificate program.
Common Core Classes in the event planning and management program include risk management, event coordination, and
professional ethics.

Certifications are not not required , they may assist with increase of career advancement opportunities.

Three years of experience in order to qualify for the Certification Program, which covers topics that include facilities services
and meeting programs.

Responsibilities

The International Association of Administrative Professionals offers the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 to 4 years of administrative work experience, depending on their level of education, and
pass an examination.

Medical Transcriptionist
Responsibilities

Listen to the recorded dictation of a doctor or other healthcare professional

Transcribe and interpret the dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents

Review and edit drafts prepared by speech recognition software, making sure that the transcription is correct, complete, and
has a consistent style

Translate medical abbreviations and jargon into the appropriate long form

Requirements

Comfortable with using word processing softwares

Medical Transcriptionist

Education Requirements

Post secondary training in medical transcription

Coursework in anatomy, medical terminology, risk management, legal issues relating to healthcare documentation, and English
grammar and punctuation.

Certifications

Although certification is not required, some medical transcriptionists choose to become certified. The
Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity offers the Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) and the
Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) certifications.

The CHDS certification, formerly known as the Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT), is for transcriptionists who have at
least 2 years of experience and those who handle dictation in several medical specialties.

Developing and managing databases that support Institutional Research.

Keeping archival data on student enrollment, retention and other key variables

Planning, coordinating, and following through to complete the process involved in the preparation and filing of state, federal,
external and internal reports.

Must be able to fully articulate over telephone, some are required to have intermediate computer skills, and great organization.

Know how to use certain computer softwares such as, Microsoft suite.

Problem solving skills are a necessity and analyzing solutions
