NAEYC Standard 1: Prompting child development and learning

Artifact: 1
Key Element 1b. Knowing and understanding the multiple influences and
development and learning.
1 c. Using development knowledge to create healthy, respectful, supportive,
and challenging and learning environment.

Lyrics for Poem: Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, and little lamb, Mary had
a little lamb, and his flees was white as snow. Everywhere that Mary went,
Mary went, and Mary went, everywhere that Mary the lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school one school one day, it made the children laugh and
play laugh and play.

This is a Finger Puppet I have made in CHD 145 teaching Art, Music, and
movement, fall 2013
In this class we had to create a puppet and a poem/ chant, song, to go with
the puppet. I made a puppet using these materials: old glove, felt, needle,
book, and sew Marys face the children and the lamb. I created this puppet
during my first year of course work. I developed this puppet to show my
ability that I can be creative since working with children of young age
requires that.
This artifact demonstrate my growth as a professional because it shows my
understanding about how children grow and learn with different method such
as puppetry and lyrics. It falls under Standard 1: Prompting child
development and learning, and it addresses the key element 1 b.
knowing and understanding multiple influences on development and
learning. This artifact fall under this standard because it helps children to
learn in a fun and exciting way. And grab their attention and help them learn
sequencing what comes first, second and next, learn rhyming, in language
art.
This artifact demonstrate my growth as a professional because it shows my
understanding how children grow and learn with puppet and lyrics. I learn
how to create things that make learning fun, such as puppets or write poetry.
I can work with small group, whole group and creating lessons that can help
children in math, language art or any other subject. I can make puppets and
use it for center so children can play and learn social skills. I know now that I
can create different puppets that teaches my students, new poem, chants,
songs and movement activities.
