Wonderful Class Management with Class Dojo
Instructional Strategy for Preinstructional, Assessment, and Follow-Through
Activities
Preinstructional Activities:
Motivation: Learners will view various introduction videos about Class Dojo, and
highlight the benefits it had on various teachers classroom management. Videos will be
from Class Dojo YouTube channel, and uploaded to our main web page.
Objectives: The purpose of the Class Dojo introduction video is for teachers to view the
benefits Class Dojo has on a variety of teachers classrooms. Being able to view how
Class Dojo increases class management by increasing participation, promoting positive
behavior, and specifying the behaviors teachers want in the classroom, will make learning
how to use the website more meaningful and relatable to teachers interested in this
particular tool. The variety of teacher testimonies will also highlight the multitude of
ways Class Dojo can be implemented in the classroom, allowing teachers to see its
flexibility and customizability in action.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Learners could be placed in groups of 10 with
one instructor in a computer lab. One of the main points of Class Dojo lessons is its
flexibility: learners can view the material anytime they have internet connection on their
laptops, computers, or phones. That said, learners can work individually and fit time into
their schedule to view lessons at their own pace, using an electronic device with internet
connection.
Assessment:
Pretest: No pretest will be administered. Teachers of various technology abilities are
welcome.
Practice tests: Practice test will be given in the form of a Performance Checklist. As
teachers complete tasks at their own pace, they will check off the form stating whether
they were able to complete each task.
Posttest: no post test will be administered.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Learners will have their own laptops (or
electronic devices) with internet connection available. If using a cellular device, then
installation of Class Dojo app is highly recommended. Cellular device, though possible,
is highly discouraged for assessment purposes. Highly recommended for learners to use
Google Chrome Internet browser as they complete tasks and use Microsoft Excel (2007
or higher) when exporting class data.

Follow-Through Activities:
Memory Aid: Learners can always refer to the Performance Checklist to analyze which
steps learners have mastered or need additional practice on. Video and written tutorials
will also be available for each step for learners to review the content should information
have been forgotten. The lessons themselves are video tutorials which guide learners
through the process of creating and using Class Dojo in the classroom, which will
reinforce their knowledge because they apply what they learned in each video.
Transfer: Upon completion, learners will export all class names from School Loop,
create a Class Dojo account, create classrooms for all of their respective classes, and then
implement Class Dojo into their classrooms for the upcoming academic school year.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: For this portion, learners will typically be
grouped individually, working at their own pace in their own classrooms creating their
Class Dojo classes, in front of a laptop (preferred) with Microsoft Excel and internet
connection. Upon successful completion of setting up their Class Dojo accounts, learners
may transition the implantation of Class Dojo in their classrooms via smaller electronic
devices, such as iPads or cellular devices for increased mobility during instructional time.
