Planning Our Assembly
You mission is to create a performance to be presented during the Grade 4 assembly. Use the ideas
you have already generated to create something original and attractive.
1. Make sure everyone shares their individual ideas.
2. Decide, as a group, what story you want to tell. You can choose one idea, mix multiple ideas
together or create something new. Write the summary below.

3. What are some sounds that you can add to this story? Think about sounds that will help make it
more interesting for the audience watching or help you to tell the story itself. Any type of sound is
allowed singing, background music, sound effects.

4. Write at least 3 ideas of how you could perform the story. Any type of performing art is allowed,
including dance, skits, songs, poetry readings Write the benefits to this as a performance for your
story next to the performance type.
Ex. Dramatic Poem Reading specific words will create an image in audiences head but we
wont need as many props; less movement involved and one of our group members has a broken
ankle; includes some acting and we all like that..

5. As a group decide how you will perform your story. Put a star next to your choice.
6. Write your script in the space provided below. This may be an actual script that you and your
group members will use since you are acting out a skit (short play), or it could be an explanation of
the movements that you will include in your dance to help share the story. As you plan your script,
keep in mind the following guidelines:
Your skit, including the introduction, can be a maximum of 2 minutes long
You must have some sound component
It needs to be easy for the audience to follow (remember, 1st 5th grade attends)
Your audience will be sitting on both the ground and chairs. Make sure they can see you!
