Standards
Math (Review all quarter 2 concepts) plus:

5.NF.B.7a: Interpret division of a unit fraction by a non-zero whole number, and compute such quotients. For
example, create a story context for (1/3) 4, and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the
relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (1/3) 4 = 1/12 because (1/12) 4 = 1/3.
5.NF.B7.b: Interpret division of a whole number by a unit fraction, and compute such quotients. For example,
create a story context for 4 (1/5), and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship
between multiplication and division to explain that 4 (1/5) = 20 because 20 (1/5) = 4.
5.NF.B7.c: Solve real world problems involving division of unit fractions by non-zero whole numbers and division
of whole numbers by unit fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.
For example, how much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many
1/3-cup servings are in 2 cups of raisins?
NF.4a.: Interpret the product (a/b) q as a parts of a partition of q into b equal parts; equivalently, as the result
of a sequence of operations a q b. For example, use a visual fraction model to show (2/3) 4 = 8/3, and
create a story context for this equation. Do the same with (2/3) (4/5) = 8/15. (In general, (a/b) (c/d) =
ac/bd.)
5.NBT.7: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to the hundredths place using concrete models or drawings
and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and relate the strategy to a written method and
explain reasoning.
5.MD.3a: A cube with side length 1 u nit called a, unit cube, is said to have one cubic unit of volume, and can
be used to measure volume.
5.MD. 5c: Recognize volume as additive. Find volumes of solid figures composed of two non-overlapping right
rectangular prisms by adding the volumes of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real
world problems.

ELA

5.RI.4: Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases in a text relevant to
a grade 5 topic or subject area.
5.RI.1: Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences
from a text.
5.RI.7: Draw on information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer
to a question quickly or solve a problem efficiently.
5.RI.9: Integrate information from several texts on the same topic in order to write or speak about the subject
knowledgeably.
5.W.9: Draw evidence from an informational text to support analysis, reflection, and research.

ELP Standards

III-R-4:B-3 The student will demonstrate knowledge of reading comprehension by answering literal questions
about text.

III-L-1:PE-5 The student will demonstrate knowledge of parts of speech by conjugating simple past tense of the
irregular verbs: to be, to have, to do, and to go with instructional support.

III-L 2E:B-12 The student will demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary by using word parts and context clues to
determine the meaning of grade level content words within a given sentence.

Ex Ed Modifications
Individualized attention by general education teacher, exceptional education teacher, and teaching assistant.
Small group instruction.
Repeated instructions and clarification on assignments.
Modified workload/assignment.
