CROSS TEST OF THE ARM ABDUCTOR MUSCLE

& WRIST EXTENSOR MUSCLES


WITHOUT ROTATION

Positions:

Patient stands, feet apart by 30, head-neck-eyes in neutral position,


eyes open, mouth closed no dento-dental contact.
Practitioner stands by the side on the side to test.

Technique: The practitioner asks the patient a 90 abduction with an extension of


the arm to test, palm facing down, and elbow flexed also at 90.
1- The practitioner stabilizes the shoulder his medial arm and evaluates
the muscular resistance of the shoulder abductor muscles with the
lateral hand by applying force on the patients forearm. This test is
performed on both sides and we note the weakest side.

2- The upper limb to test is in 90 antepulsion, palm facing down, elbow


extended and wrist in maximal extension. This test is performed on
both sides and we note the weakest side.

Results:

If we can observe that the weakest sides are ipsilateral, this means
there is a temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
If we can observe that the weakest sides are contralateral, this means
there is a cervical spine or ocular sensor trouble.
