WRIST EXTENSOR MUSCLES TEST

SPECIFIC FOR OCCLUSIVE or UPPER LIMB DYSFUNCTION

Important: This test is only to be performed when the same tests specific for the
cervical and ocular sensors are negative.

Positions:

Patient stands, feet apart by 30, head-neck-eyes in neutral position,


eyes open, mouth closed no dento-dental contact.
Practitioner stands by the side on the side to test.

Technique: The practitioner asks the patient a 90 antepulsion of the upper limb,
elbow extended, palm facing down, wrist in maximal extension.
1- The practitioner slightly holds the upper limb with his medial arm and
evaluates the muscular resistance of the wrist extensor muscles with
the other hand.
2- He asks the patient to look towards the tested wrist WITHOUT any
neck rotation. He shouldnt observe any increase of strength of the
extensor muscles.

3- The practitioner asks the patient to turn his head contralaterally


WITHOUT any eye movement. He shouldnt observe any increase of
strength of the extensor muscles.

4- Using two bite plans positioned between the molars, the patient
clenches his teeth.

5- The practitioner evaluates again the extensor muscles in the initial


standing position during the clenching.

Results:

1st case: increase of strength

=>

occlusive trouble

2nd case: no increase of strength

=>

upper limb trouble
