3. A rigid tank with a volume of 2.5 m3 contains 15 kg of saturated liquid-vapor mixture of

water at 75C. Now the water is slowly heated. Determine the temperature at which the
liquid in the tank is completely vaporized.
4. A rigid vessel contains 2 kg of refrigerant-134a at 800 kPa and 120C. Determine the
volume of the vessel and the total internal energy.
5. A 0.5-m3 vessel contains 10 kg of refrigerant-134a at 20C. Determine
(a) the pressure
(b) the total internal energy
(c) the volume occupied by the liquid phase.

6. A 1-m3 tank containing air at 25C and 500 kPa is connected through a valve to another
tank containing 5 kg of air at 35C and 200 kPa. Now the valve is opened, and the entire
system is allowed to reach thermal equilibrium with the surroundings, which are at 20C.
Determine the volume of the second tank and the final equilibrium pressure of air.

7. 100 grams of R-134a initially fill a weighted piston cylinder device at 60 kPa and -20C.
The device is then heated until the temperature is 100C. Determine the change in the
device's volume as a result of the heating.

8. Determine the mass in kg of 0.1m3 of Refrigerant-134a at 0.4MPa and 100C.

9. Determine the specific volume of steam (MW: 18 kg/kmol) at 600 C and 1 MPa using
