Concept of lithology (1.1), reservoir (1.3), reservoir fluids (1.3.3), migration of fluids (1.5).
Exploration: Meaning, methods of exploration (2.1), surface geological methods (2.1.1), geophysical
methods (2.1.2).
Drilling: Concept of drilling, various drilling operations e.g. cable drilling (3.1), rotary drilling (3.2),
Directional drilling (3.3)
Drilling equipment; various rigs and its parts like draw-works (4.1), rotary table (3.2.3), Kelley
(3.2.2), swivel (3.2.1) and Drilling bits (3.2.4), Mud (4.2); mud parameters; specific weight, viscosity,
pH etc and chemical used (4.2.2).
Regulation of crude oil production, Pretreatment (5.1), classification of crude's methods of evaluation;
ASTM, TBA, EFV distillation.
