Smoke Detectors & Can Any public housing tenant who disconnects their smoke detector faces an immediate eviction Any careless burning of candles, incense or other such Products causing a home fire will result in an immediate termination of the tenant ‘s lease. You should consider this notice your only warning! °e Maintenance P naneae (7 maintenance Only call the emergency after hours number when you face a real emergency. A maintenance emergency is one that will, if not repaited immediately, endanger tenants or result in further damage to the residential structure. Examples include: a fire; no heat; no power; and a water leak. Most other maintenance problems should be reported to the office during normal work hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. ‘Sewer Backups . We've had a number of sewer back-ups. Allltenants are requested to use their sink stoppers and not allow waste food products and such to go down the drains. Also, please keep a tin can under your sink and use it to dispose alll cooking grease, oils and animal fats. Only toilet paper and biodegradable products should be flushed down your toilets. Feminine hygiene products (tampons, sanitary napkins, etc.) diapers and paper towels should be included in your take out garbage and must not be flushed down the toilet. Important Things to Remember About Your Lease Agreement No Pets We remind you that when you signed your lease, you agreed not to have pets. Ifthe Authority finds pets in-your public housing unit, we will terminate your lease and file an application with the Rental Officer for eviction. Please note that the Authority does make exceptions for service animals and special care animals approved by the CEO in advance. ‘Tenant Absences Tenants are reminded that during the winter months from October 30" to April 30" of each year if you plan to leave your home unoccupied for more than twenty-four (24) hours you must provide the Housing Authority written notice before you go. You should also note that because rent is based on household income you are not allowed to have someone such as a house-sitter stay in your unit to look after it when you are on holiday or out of town. 2015 Income Tax Assessment Notice Annual income tax time is here again. You should file your 2015 income tax as soon as possible because you will be required to provide the Authority a copy of your 2015 Income Tax Assessment. Rent Payment Zour rent is due to the Housing Authority the first day of each month. PAID ir you nave outstanding rent on your account please contact the Program Officer. The Program Officer is the first contact in resolving your payment issues. IF you want to stay in Public Housing you must settle your rent account or agree to a payment plan with the Program Officer. Noise The City of Yellowknife noise by-law is enforced during the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. This by-law applies to all noise outside or inside including loud music and partying Board Meetings The Board of Directors of the Yellowknife Housing Authority meets monthly. The meetings are open to the public. For information contact Bob Bies, Chief Executive Officer. Report All Household Income Tenants must report the income of everyone in the household before month end so that the Authority can assess your following month's rent. Your rent and housing subsidy are calculated based on your gross household income. If you household income changes, you must notify the Authority immediately. Parking Tenants with a vehicle are reminded that they are allocated one parking stall only. You cannot park more than one vehicle in the parking lot or on Housing Authority 9 property. All vehicles in parking stalls must be registered at Yellowknife Housing office. All unregistered vehicles will be towed the expense of the tenant.
