Qualities of a Good Teacher

Students are a reflection of what the teacher
inspires
Before going to start describing the qualities of a good teacher its important to
know first that theres a difference between a teacher and a good teacher, a teacher is
one who has a professional degree of teaching and different diplomas for getting job or
earning and studying further for the sake of promotion or money either but a good
teacher is one, who is dedicated to her/his profession and not by chance teacher rather
by choice she/he has decided to be a nation builder hence she/he is well aware of whats
really being called as a teacher and what are the requirements of this profession.
1. Looking at the qualities of a good teacher the first quality that comes in
my mind is, exactly, wanting to be a teacher. If one choosing a career in
something one likes to do, the joy will flow through and make the learning
experience for the students and the teaching experience for the teacher
always better.
2. As a student I can say, we always consider that teacher truly good who can
understand her/his students psychology and act accordingly.
3. A good teacher is the teacher who plays these vivid roles together: tutor,
controller, friend, feedback etc. S/he neither too strict nor too retiring.
S/he always find out students' demands and fulfill them as much objective
as possible.
4. The good teacher dont view the class as a place to rule rather should
better help students feel that they do have an equally important role to
play in the classroom. That is why learner-centered classes are getting
popularity these days.
5. A good teacher is a good leader.
6. A good teacher is accountable.

Qualities of a Good Teacher

7. A good teacher enables the students to think. And teach them how to think
indeed and how to learn not how to imitate.
8. A good teacher is one who is also at the same time a good STUDENT. This
lets them see the difficulties that their students might have, and how to
make the material both more interesting and easier to understand.
9. A good teacher knows NOT to take things personally, even when their
students might abuse them. These students are younger and less mature.
So the behavior they project is often due to something that is bothering the
student that the child does not know how to deal with, so is in distress.
10. Flexibility to differentiate the instruction of the students by their diverse
needs and their levels of skill.
11. Adaptability to accept changes in classroom demographics, class
population, budget cuts, and working conditions
12. Discipline, of course, and leadership to keep the learners motivated,
focused and well-behaved.
13. Intelligence obviously so that s/he will be able to explain in detail and
without having unnecessary complexity the things students need to know.
14. Self-respect because otherwise students will not be inspired to have it for
either the teacher or themselves.
15. A good teacher is knowledgeable in her/his teaching field.
16. A good teacher is adaptable know how to make changes to lessons or
activities on the fly because of an unforeseen situation or problem. As each
day students enter the classroom in different moods. So a good teacher is
able to adjust ones own mood to help keep a stable mood in the
classroom.
17. A good teacher is patient, kind and never be condescending. To me, the
most important quality of a good teacher is patience. No matter how good
your students are they will test your patience at many points during the
day.
18. A good teacher is a team player who works well with other teachers also
consistent and fair.

students learning style.
20. A good teacher is a lifelong learner. New information is developed daily
and in order to be the most effective teacher, s/he just continues to gain
knowledge.
21. A good teacher has clear boundaries. When students understand their
targets for behavior they generally follow them.
22. A good teacher know how to challenge pupils academically. If students get
bored, they act out. Even for students who don't think they want to be a
part of a class activity, they usually do because we all want acceptance.
23. A good teacher think outside the box.
24. S/he is proactive rather than reactive.

26. A good teacher always takes notes.
27. Try maintaining a creative environment.
28. A good teacher never let her/his students down when they come to them
with their problems. Even if the problems are out of syllabus, they try to
help the students by using the Internet or library. Orally ask about basics
before teaching a topic in-depth. Clear the base points which seem to be
unknown to your students. Create competition in a positive aspect. Be
smart to deviate attention of students from everything else to the topic.
Appeal to students' interest in the topic instead of commanding them to
study.
29. Understand that every topic in the book has some practical application.
30. Take short notes. Revise once before teaching your class.
31. A good teacher is always a moral being first.
32. There are so many qualities that a good teacher should have. My view is to
tell you to think about the teacher that you disliked the most and don't do
anything s/he did. If it left you with a bad taste in your mouth it would do
the same for other students as well.
33. So, in short, a good teacher must have a LOT of empathy.
