GOAL 1: Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment

Strategy 1.1

Take time to introduce myself and get to know the

students. Play a get to know you game.

Strategy 1.2

Let students know what I need from them, and ask

what they need from me to be successful. Have
clear expectations.

Strategy 1.3

Introduce learning tools including fidgets and the

class website.

Strategy 1.4.

Use exit slips and/or pollnow to take student

needs and understandings into consideration. Be
flexible.

Strategy 1.5

Use praise to reinforce good work/behaviour and

let students know I care.

Measures: Throughout my practicum I hope to implement the strategies listed above to give the
students the resources they need to succeed and let them know that I care and am invested in their
success. My goal is to use the tools above to have students feel comfortable putting forth effort and
making mistakes in my class without feeling that they will be criticized or penalized.

Sub-goal 2: Build relationships with students, as well as, staff at the school.

Strategy 2.1

Talk to students about non-school things. Take an interest in their lives and hobbies.

Strategy 2.2

Go to sporting events etc. at the school.

Strategy 2.3

Say Hi to everyone in the hallways.

Strategy 2.4

Be involved in school happenings with staff- meetings, etc.

Measures: I will focus on taking steps to build relationships with students and staff. Throughout the 6
weeks of my practicum, both students and staff should feel more comfortable talking to me in the
hallways and collaborating with me. As a result, I hope to gain the trust and respect of the students to
help improve the classroom environment and students learning. This should also help with classroom
management.

GOAL 2: Incorporate technology into teaching and learning

Sub-goal 1: Use results of student assessments to enhance curriculum

Strategy 1.1

Use the smartboard for notes and visuals.

Strategy 1. 2

Create class website where students can find class notes, worksheets, and helpful
resources

Strategy 1.3

Use Remind101 to connect with students

Strategy 1.4

Take advantage of different technologies available including the computer lab and
iPads. Use online gizmos and simulations rather than textbooks.

Strategy 1.5

Have students do a research project using the computers. Potentially give the
option of having students use PowerPoint or another digital option to create a
presentation

Measures: Through the strategies above, I will implement technology into my teaching in areas I see
fit to further student learning. I will use a variety of different methods. Technology will also be used
to connect with students, as well as, provide them with resources and differentiation.
