Preamble:

What do you feel like eating today? Mexican, Chinese, Thai,

Italian, Vietnamese or maybe Indian? The enormous variety of
foods we have available in Australia today is predominantly due
to the countrys multicultural nature and the demand for
traditional ingredients and foods from the wide variety of ethnic
groups living here. Many of the foods you consume today were
unavailable a decade ago, and the dishes we eat today, such as
pasta and rice dishes, were less common 20-30 years ago.
These products have slowly made their way into our everyday
diet and have become popular, readily available and accepted
foods. Consuming multicultural food is now part of our
Australian culture.

TASK
You are to develop a Weebly website to document
your research into countries and cuisines from
different continents around the world. Your
website will need to provide information about
each countrys food culture and its influence on
Australian cuisine.
The information should be presented in a way that
both engages your audience and educates them.
It should include basic information about the
country and also provide a deeper understanding
of the culture and cuisine. In addition to this, a
recipe for each country is to be prepared and
photographed, with the recipes and photos to
feature on your website.

What Does This Task Require

Me To Do?

You are to
conduct
research
into the
cuisine and
food cultures of countries around
the world as guided by your
teacher. The information you
discover is to then be
communicated on a website that
you will create to educate your
fellow classmates about each
country. Information presented should focus on each countrys food
culture and its influence on Australian cuisine and must be accurately
referenced. For the specific requirements of this task, you will need to
follow the checklist on the next page.

Keeping On
Track

The website should include basic

information about the country and also
provide a deeper understanding of the
culture and cuisine plus a recipe and
photograph of a food product for
each country. The information should be
presented in a way that both engages your audience and educates
them.

To ensure your website is engaging, you are

encouraged to use a variety of digital tools
to enhance your website. The additions should
communicate or clarify information and should
not be added in purely for aesthetics.
Suggested tools include image creation tools,
word cloud generators, video producing tools,
avatar creation tools, etc that can be accessed
via the internet or as an app. For more information about digital tools, a
multimodal responses PowerPoint is available on SEQTA.

theme (and colour scheme if applicable).

then use your initials plus the term food journey to help
complete the domain name. Eg If your name is Sam
Nicholas Simpson then you will need to enter
SNSfoodjourney to complete the domain name. See your

(This is just to get the basics of the website set up you will
be able to rename pages, format the pages and make other
changes throughout the unit as you enter information and
media)

towards the multicultural cuisine Australians enjoy
today.

Use a variety of digital tools in addition to text to

communicate this information clearly and in an engaging
manner.
STEP 4: RECIPE AND PHOTO FOR THE COUNTRIES SELECTED FROM STEP 3

food inequities. Write a reflection of approximately 100
words to outline what you have learnt and your opinions
about this issue.

STEP 6: REFERENCE LIST PAGE

used in the creation of your website. Use the Harvard
Style Guide to assist you to ensure it is accurate.
5

Ensure your sources are listed in alphabetical order.

STEP 7: SUBMIT YOUR WEBSITE
