Activities: Open the Lesson 9.1 virtual lab on the SMART board and have students
open it on their Chromebooks if they like. Work through the lesson together.

Lesson 9.2 Inquiry
Goals: To observe properties of minerals
Objectives: TLW observe properties of different minerals.
Methods: cooperative learning, observations, visual skills
Activities: Direct students to page 425 in the Fusion SE. Post Flipchart 45 on the
SMART board. Review the Flipchart directions with the class. Tell students that
they will be working in their small groups to complete pages 425 - 426. Set up 1-2
minerals at each small group station. Students should turn in pages 425-426.

Goals: To model the rock cycle.
Objectives: TLW work in small groups to model the rock cycle using crayon shavings.
Methods: lab, cooperative groups, auditory, visual, tactile
Activities: Begin the lesson by going over safety precautions with the class.
Distribute the Crayon Cycle instruction sheet to each student. Go over the
instructions with the class and remind them of safety precautions for scissors and
candles. Divide the class in small groups and have them work through the lab answering the Analysis Questions at the bottom of the page.
