Speaker Profiles
Dr. Brinda Jagirdar
Dr. Brinda Jagirdar is an independent director and senior business economist based in Mumbai. She retired
as the Chief Economist, State Bank of India. She has been associated with the Raghuram Rajan Committee
on Financial Sector Reforms in India, was a member of the Planning Commissions sub-group on household
sector savings for the 12th five year plan and member of the Ministry of Finance Group on Deepening Indias
Household Financial Services. She is a PhD in Economics from the University of Mumbai, MS in Economics
from University of California at Davis, USA, MA in Economics from Gokhale Institute, Pune and also attended
the Executive Programme, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.

Mr. Rakesh Dharawat


Rakesh is a Fellow Member of the Institute of chartered Accountants of India and a law graduate with over 25
years of consulting experience in direct tax and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Dhruva Advisors, Rakesh
was a partner with PwC and KPMG. He has significant experience in advising companies on domestic and
cross border taxation, inbound investment and entry strategies. He also routinely represents clients before
income tax authorities at all levels. Rakesh specialises in advising on complex M&A and internal restructuring
transactions as well as in supporting and advising on complex litigation matters. He is also involved in tax
advocacy matters and supports industry associations on tax policy issues. Rakesh is a regular speaker at
various forums and has contributed several articles/papers in professional journals/newspapers.
