To Whom This May Concern,

This is a message to all administration and school board members in all school districts.
Creativity is one of the most powerful tools in the world that is not being utilized enough in the
classroom. The goal is to inform you of how we can use Creative Problem Solving (CPS) and
other aspects of Creativity to enhance the learning of the students in the classroom. Using CPS
and other aspects
of creativity can
help students learn
lifelong skills that
they can use not
just in the
classroom, but also
outside the
classroom with
their future career.
What is Creativity?
Creativity
according to Mel
Rhodes (an expert
in the field of
creativity), says
creativity is
through a
Figure 1: Adobe Survey about Creativity defined
system of the four
Ps which are:
creative person, process, press (environment), and creative product. Creativity is interaction
between knowledge, imagination, and evaluation according to Ruth Noller (an expert in the field
of creativity).
An Adobe survey about creativity shows the needs for creativity in the classroom. 62% of the
educators feel they should be creative regardless of the subject they are teaching. 58% of those
same educators feel that they want to show creative skills to the students in their classes. This is
shown in Figure 1: Adobe Survey about Creativity.
Involving creative skills in the classroom can do so much for your students. It can teach your
students how to work in a team (team building). It can teach students how think clearly about
complex problems (problem solving). It can teach students how to analyze problems and how to
create solutions to those problems (climb up the ladder of Blooms Taxonomy).
How can you incorporate creativity into the classroom you might ask? Simple, the use of
technology will help your students build their own creativity level. Training must be received in
the field of creativity to teach students creative skills that will help them outside the classroom.

The current system of education is in need of a change and this change starts with creativity. The
use of creative skills taught to students can have a long term effect on the success of this country.
My message is simple, allow educators to incorporate creative skills in their lessons or the
success of the nation could be negatively impacted. An example of creativity being used in the
classroom is in the country of Scotland where they invested money and time into implementing
creativity in their lessons. The website called Education Scotland
(http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/learningandteaching/) shows how they incorporate
creativity in everyday learning. The purpose of this curriculum (incorporating creativity) is: to
build success learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective learners. By
incorporating creativity, the country of Scotland is building student success in and out of the
classroom. When these students graduate from high school they are have lifelong skills that can
be used in any work setting.

Sincerely,
Miguel A. Pereira III
