Identify and explain the organization of the Executive


The executive branch consist of many parts that helps organize the way it is able to control
government.

Bureaucracies: consists of departments and administrations. Some people think that


bureaucracies arent effective and well organized. It lacks conformity and organization.
President: commander and chief of the military. Assisting the president are agencies and
vice president
Cabinet members: department heads

2. Identify and provide an example of the powers of the Executive, both formal and
informal.
The executive branch tends to have quite a few powers written in the constitution which
they follow and then there are some where they arent written.
Formal powers: veto laws, commander and chief, appointing powers and ambassadors
Informal powers: Can take control of a situation without approval of congress, chief of state,
party leader and chief of party
3. Identify and explain how Executive shares powers with the Congress, Judiciary, and
bureaucracy.
The executive branch shares powers with congress, judiciary and the bureaucracy in way
that they all help one another. They make sure that no one category overpowers the other.
Congress basically helps and makes sure that the executive branch doesn't over power them.
Most things can't go beyond a point without some sort of congress approval. The executive
branch shares power with the judiciary branch by appointing people to serve in that area. The
bureaucracy is made of different departments that work with the president.

4. Discuss the implications of Executive sharing powers with each of the following:
Congress, Judiciary, and bureaucracy.
By the executive sharing powers with Congress, Judiciary, and bureaucracy, it keeps each
branch in check and follows the checks and balances idea. This means that no branch has more
power than the others and each branch is equal. By sharing power with bureaucracy, it ensures
that the people are kept involved and informed before any legislation is passed.
5. Discuss the functions that Executive performs.
The executive has the ability to:

enforce laws, treaties, and court decisions.


issues executive orders to carry out policies
appoint officials and remove officials

assumes emergency powers


presides over the cabinet and executive branch

6. Identify how the power of the Executive has/may evolve gradually.


With the creation of the cabinet and federal agencies, the Executive Branch has evolved
drastically over time. The cabinet and federal agencies are under jurisdiction of the president.
Also, due to the growth of the country, it is believed that more government control is needed to
keep the balance of order, freedom, and equality in check.
7. Identify how the power of the Executive has/may changes dramatically as a result of
crisis.
When crisis arises the president's power increases. This allows the president to take action in
congress and get a legislature to work quicker. During crisis the people push the president to take
action and work with congress.
8. Identify and discuss the ties between the Executive and political parties.
The president leads the part they're part in. They have to work hard to be able to propose and
pass policies that help their agenda.
9. Identify and discuss the ties between the Executive and interest groups.
Interest groups financially and politically support presidential campaign candidates who they
think will support legislature and help them to reach their goals.
10. Identify and discuss the ties between the Executive and media.
Media plays a huge role in how the people view the president. Through media, the people are
able to see the candidate or the presidents day to day activities. How the president is portrayed
changes the way that people see him. The way a candidate is portrayed can help him/her lose or
gain votes.
11. Identify and discuss the ties between the Executive and state and local governments.
The Executive branch oversees state and local governments and keeps them in check. In every
state, people have their own executive government, since the people have more contact with their
state. They elect their governor to represent them in federal government.
