I am overjoyed to have joined you at Northern Vance High School for the 2015-2016 school year as a part of the administrative team. I am a Principal Intern with the Northeast Leadership Academy at NC State University and have been placed at NVHS for my Principal Residency. I believe that, as educators, it is not only our job to help our students achieve academic excellence, but also, and perhaps more importantly, to help our kids become citizen leaders. Though I grew up in Syracuse, NY, I have called eastern North Carolina home for the past four years. Teach for America brought me here, but my love for this place and people keep me. I have been teaching math at Warren County High School, and Ive learned the challenges our kids face. Nonetheless, I believe that when teachers set truly high expectations, our students rise to them every time. Before coming to North Carolina, I spent two years teaching middle school math and English in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I learned quickly, and continue to believe to this day, that relationships and compassion matter most when it comes to working with people, especially children. I am a huge believer in continuous improvement through hard work, learning from failure, and constantly seeking feedback. I cannot wait to grow personally and professionally with all of you at Northern Vance. Here is to a great school year!
