Germanic peoples

The word Germanic describes an ethnic


group of people.

Often Described as Germanic Tribes

Germanic tribes were present during the


fall of the Roman Empire in 500 A.D.
These Germanic tribes, although sharing
an origin and cultural background,
developed into different distinct groups

The Visigoths

This Germanic Tribe migrated out of


areas of the Netherlands and Denmark
Primarily resided in modern day Spain,
but were also found in Italy until the
Ostrogoths gained the territory.

The Ostrogoths

Germanic Tribe
Began to integrate with Roman Culture
Primarily resided in modern day Italy.

Anglo-Saxon

Germanic Tribe that originated from


Danish territory and modern-day
Germany.
The Anglo-Saxon people made their way
to the Island of Britain.

Franks

Germanic tribe that populated areas of


modern-day France.
The longest lasting of the Germanic
tribes in Europe
Frankish Empire was founded by Clovis
in the Year 500 A.D.
