Hepatitis A

-Is:

a highly contagious
disease that attacks the liver

MAIN SOURCE: It is primarily found in the


feces of people who are infected.

-It is spread most commonly when a person:


ingests food or water that is contaminated with the feces of an infected
person (i.e. by food handlers or by flies who have the virus)
eats raw shellfish from water polluted with sewage

FOODS LINKED TO THIS BACTERIA:


Ready-to-eat food
shellfish from contaminated water
contaminated drinking water
uncooked
andhandler
cooked foods that are not reheated after contact with an
infected food

SYMPTOMS:
Fatigue
Nausea and vomiting
Abdominal pain(especially in
the area of your liver)
Loss of appetite
Fever
Dark urine
Muscle pain
Jaundice

Maintain proper personal hygiene (i.e. washing hands)


Buy shellfish from reputable suppliers
When
preparing
foods never touch ready-to-eat foods with bare hands
(always
use gloves)
Exclude workers who have been diagnosed with the virus
Exclude
workers while they are sick with gastrointestinal illnesses and/or
have jaundice

REMEMBER ME:
They better wash their hands the best that they
can,
