Scenario
You have recently started working for a small website
development firm called Dynamic Web. Now that you have
proven your ability to identify features of websites and analyse
them in depth, you have been asked to start working for a
client to design a web site.
As you are now working for a client you have been provided with a client brief.
Within this brief are the details that you will need to start designing the website.
You will be provided with outlines of the tasks you will be expected to complete to
enable you to complete the Designing a web site assignment.
The following tasks will provide evidence towards Learning aim B
All the resources that you need to complete this assignment are available through
Moodle.
Task
Explain the purpose and user requirements which have been highlighted in the client
brief.
Storyboards & Two alternative designs
You must produce 8 storyboards for the 8 pages the client has asked for. Ensure you
annotate the storyboards with what colours, font, font sizes, images etc. you are
going to use. Highlight any interactivity on the pages (e.g. pop-up boxes etc.)
Produce two alternative designs for the home page.
Site map & folder structure You need to produce an outline of the site map and
the folder structure which will be used in the development of the site.
A sources table List all the sources which will be used in the production of the site.
Test plan an outline of the tests which you will need to conduct to ensure the site
functions as expected.
House style and interactive features How will you ensure a consistent design and
layout throughout the site, along with how you plan to add interactivity?
Justification of design decisions Once the final design is finished you should justify
your final design, taking account of how the design meets the requirements of the
user, why alternative designs where rejected and any constraints you may face.
