Lower income areas in Los Angeles have higher rates of diabetes, obesity, and CVD. Obesity is common in children.

Assumptions

External Factors

The programs focus is to teach the youth about proper balanced


nutrition and physical activity. Then teaching the elementary school
students will help them retain the information they have learned.

Unhealthy food choices that are near by and readily available to the
students such as fast food and ice cream trucks. Parental influence
and the unwillingness for them to change.
