Section 2: APPROACH TO RESEARCH

What is your research problem statement? (Because
research problem statements can evolve throughout the process,
this statement should fit the most current version of your
project.) The problem is that America have too many homeless
people thats not getting the proper care and attention they need
in order to help them become a better person in life.

_____/5

What are your research question(s)? (Because

research question can evolve throughout the process, this
statement should fit the most current version of your
project.)
How long have you been homeless?
Where would you like to be in a years time?
Do you feel safe?
How much sleep do you get at night
How do you think people who are not homeless view people
who are homeless?
Why do you think people become homeless?

_____/5

What is the best thing that happened to you this week?

What three words would you use to describe being
homeless?
What one big thing can the government do to help you?
What makes you feel safe?
What does the word home mean to you?
Anything else youd like me to know

Describe the Research Method You Used. Give a detailed

report of how and why you collected data in the way you did.
Attach any research instrument you used (survey, interview
questions, etc.). Explain how many data samples you collected.
Describe any limitations of your research method.

_____/10

In my research method I interviewed a homeless person. I asked

11 questions about being homeless and how does it makes you
feel about being view differently. I wrote the questions on some
note cards and read them to her and she wrote her responses. I
picked this way to collect my data because its better to hear
from a person that was homeless or still is then to ask a person
thats never been homeless, they will just guess how it would feel
to be homeless but I need facts correct information.

Add Two Additional Annotated Bibliography Entries in MLA
Format. Use recent CPAR-related readings that you have done in
class to add two entries for your annotated bibliography here.

______/1

Identity Key Concept Terms and Definitions. Add between 25 key concept terms and definitions that you use to analyze your
data here.
Homelessness: is a temporary condition that people fall into
when they cannot afford to pay for a place to live, or when their
current home is unsafe or unstable.
Poverty : the state of being extremely poor.

______/1

Report Findings. Explain your most significant findings from

this round of data collection. In other words, what story does your
data tell? Make 2-4 claims and back each claim up with specific
data you collected. Use key concepts from your readings to
explain your claims.

_____/25

While doing an interview with a homeless person I asked many

questions about their life being homeless but one particular
question I asked was, How do you think people who are not
homeless view people who are homeless. She responded, I
believe most people think that everybody has someone they
know who will help them soon.
In other words, if Im homeless and the person who can help me
is not, what Im thinking in my mind is Why wont you help me?
Its giving off a negative impression which means either you dont
want to help or I dont want the help. In my opinion I believe that
is true but if you do have a helping hand in your corner why they
wont take you in and help you through your situation so you
wont be homeless no more?
I think this question is very important because throughout life
people look down on homeless people and dont pay them any
mind. When they ask for money or anything the first thing we say
is, I dont have it. We shouldnt do that because we wouldnt
want that to be us and the answer is always no when asking from
random people. We figure that since we are up and working
3

successfully they should do the same. Sometimes we fail to

realize that you have to struggle for change.
In my neighborhood there are a lot of homeless people standing
around, ages going from 20 on up. Most of them are homeless for
the reasons, job loss and underemployment or relational
brokenness. By this point theyve went through every supportive
relationship possible. Friends and family are no longer able or
willing to help, leaving the homeless man or woman very much
alone. Their situation is less about homelessness and more about
unwantedness.

Section 4: REFLECTION & NEXT STEPS

Reflect on Progress. What significant things have you learned
through this process thus far? What has been most surprising,
rewarding, or difficult about this process? How have you involved
your mentor?

_______/
5

I learned that homelessness is a very very depressing stage in life

that would make you hurt yourself instead of it hurting you. The
most difficult process was trying to find a homeless person to
interview and make them feel comfortable around your presents.
I have involved my mentor by asking questions and talking about
homelessness.

Plan for Next Steps. You have seven weeks to collect

additional research and complete an action project. Based on
what you have done thus far, what are your plans for the
upcoming seven weeks? My plans are to collect more data and
learn more things I didnt know before.
