Tiger Support Corner

Hello, Herbert Mills Tigers and Families! As we

celebrate the new year and welcome the colder
weather, we want to remind our families we
have many
cold weather items (e.g., hats and
gloves) available.

The
DARE
Program is coming to our 3rd grade
classrooms on February 8th to help with
strategies on positive behaviors, speaking up
when treated unkindly, and being an overall
good citizen.

Our February Character Education word of the

month is
Honesty
. We are encouraging our
students to take responsibility and show
ownership of their choices, while being fair and
sincere.

Teacher Spotlight!
The second grade team at Mills has been so excited to
welcome Ian Davis to the team this year! Mr. Davis
completed his undergraduate degree at Lourdes
University in Sylvania, Ohio and then received his Reading
Endorsement at Ohio University. Mr. Davis was most
excited to be part of the awesome staff at Mills and to
have the opportunity to work
with amazing students this year. As the year
progresses, Mr. Davis hopes that all of his students
reach their end of year goals and become completely
invested in the STEM process. Outside of school you
may find Mr. Davis coaching volleyball and swimming!

Welcome to Mills, Mr. Davis!

Notes from the School Nurse

Cold & flu season is upon us! Here are some tips for preventing the spread of
germs in the school environment:

Keep your child home if they have a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or bad cough/cold

symptoms. Students must be fever, vomit and diarrhea-free for 24 hours w

ithout
the aid of medication
to return to school.

Teach your children the importance of thorough, frequent hand washing and the
appropriate use of hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available.

Remind your children to cough and sneeze into their elbow, not their hands.

Make sure your children know to use tissues when needed, to throw dirty tissues
in the trash and to wash their hands after tissue use
.

Donations of tissues, hand sanitizers (unscented), and antibacterial cleansing wipes are
always appreciated by teachers and staff!
