Gather info about teacher literacy block instructional time
using the worksheet from AEA- Get schedules, do we have protected
time, interview literacy teachers to see how often block is interrupted
and what happens when it is?
Establish guidelines to follow for selecting and reviewing
materials, programs, and materials.
Watch FAST data to make sure we are seeing growth in
the % of students proficient and progress monitoring all non-proficient
students each week.
Thanks for working on this team with me! I appreciate your time, out of the box
thinking, and enthusiasm as we address items which will improve our school and
student success!

BLT Update
November 5, 2015
Our BLT team met on Thursday. Here are the items we discussed.
1.
We began our meeting reading an article from Forbes magazine
regarding the importance of collaboration. We know this is a hot topic in education
and is something that we as a staf are striving to improve upon. We felt this
paragraph from the article summed it up well and would like to share it with you.
Collaboration isnt about giving up your individuality. Quite the opposite: its about realizing your
potential. Its about bringing your many gifts to the table and sharing them in pursuit of a common goal.
Its about bringing your ideas, your passion, your mind, heart, and soul to your leadership and culture.

We talked about providing opportunities for the staf to have time together to
share ideas for improving their skills or needs in the classroom. Some topics that
we discussed were technology, classroom management, challenging behavior
students, and center management & activities. This may lead to other topics of
conversation. If there is anything youd like to add, please share your ideas with a
BLT member.
We know that everyone has busy schedules so we want you to know this is
not a mandatory meeting just a time for sharing ideas and helping each other. Well
plan to meet Wednesday, November 11 at 3:15 in the Audrey Hepburn room (next
to Jen Bormann and Britnis room). Should you have to leave at 3:45, youre
welcome to do so. Our goal is to provide the staf with collaboration time to share
ideas. We hope you can come and share your expertize.

2. We appreciate the concerns that have been brought to the BLT team. These topics
were discussed.
parking lot safety in the winter months
bathroom etiquette
technology troubleshooting
student morning arrival time
helicopter parents
curriculum (ELA, Math, The Leader in Me)

3.

All School Assemblies

Start with Wear Green for Kale Friday, November 13 at 2:30
More about this will be discussed at inservice tomorrow.

4.

MTSS
Resources needed yet and who has what kits.
Candice will be around to inventory 95% Group materials each teacher
has in their classroom in a Google Doc. This way everyone will know what we
have and where its at.
Please return any kits to the staf lounge that are not in use.

5. Met with AEA team about Literacy Work

We will be asking for classroom schedules so that we can look at how
we are allocating our time.
