LANGUAGE

When I was a young girl, I lived overseas (Japan, Germany and England). During that
time I studied many foreign languages and was able to carry on conversations in
Japanese, German, Spanish and a bit of French. I now continue in my Japanese studies.
PERSONAL INVENTORY

1. I strive to be an effective teacher who connects with students academically and

personally.
2. It is my goal to be a strong team player, accomplished in communication skills, and an
asset as an administrator.
3. I am a life-long learner, always researching what makes education better. I subscribe to
journals, read about educational practices, and am involved in dialogues with other
colleagues about making education a stronger arena.
I was once interviewed by some students for a school newspaper. They asked me how I
knew I wanted to be a teacher. I told them when I was in first grade I knew I wanted to
become a teacher. I remember enjoying helping other people learn things. I started
babysitting at an early age, worked in Sunday School classrooms, helped at summer
camps, and became a teachers aid in early high school. After graduating from high
school, I began to pursue a career in education. When I took time off from college to
travel to Japan, I taught private English lessons to children and adults alike. Even now
with a full load of teaching, I volunteer in a local public school.
