‘Tulsa County Deputy Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #188 advises each county
commissioner that we have no faith or confidence in our currently seated county commissioners.
There have been numerous recent events that we believe have hampered our already struggling
relationship. Your continued showing of lack of support for our deputies that protect our citizens
has grown over the past year and has become ever more prevalent in the past few weeks. In times
such as this, with a continued lack of support all across the country for law enforcement, itis,
imperative that we receive support from our elected and local officials. You have shown through
the statement by one of our county commissioner of “the gift that keeps on giving” while
referring to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office in the media, that there is a lack of support.
Additionally, your lack of funding for the Tulsa County Jail shows a lack of support for
our officers and the work that we conduct. It was reported by Newson6 on January 19, 2016 that
the county leaders affirmed that the jail is a $34 million dollar operation yet the budget was cut
and only budgeted for $31.5 million for this fiscal year. This is a failure in design, a
acknowledge we will be under funded by $2.5 million before the year begins.
you
Furthermore, the lack of funding, the bullying tactics and threats to prevent our
employees from receiving any step increases or benefit for longevity for those of our members
that have shown a commitment and willingness to place themselves in harm’s way for our
community is another example of your lack of support for us. You have not been critical in the
budgets of other departments or agencies of the county as you have with that of the sheriff's
office.
Tulsa County Deputy Sheriff's Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #188 asks that the
constant lack of support and the barrage of negativity cease. We also ask to be justly
compensated in our performance and job duties and ask that the commissioners cooperate in
searching for the means to obtain this goal.
