For Immediate Release April 9, 2010

The Bakersfield Police Department is searching for the following suspect wanted
for lewd conduct,

Ted Louis Davis, 62 years old, 6’1” tall, 205 pounds, balding brown hair and
hazel eyes.

Davis may be occupying a burnt orange 2006 Honda Element, California

license 5THP665.

Davis is wanted in connection to the incident on 4/7/10, at 2:30 p.m., wherein a

four year old Hispanic girl and her mother were shopping at the Goodwill
Industries Store at 2671 Oswell Street. The girl was a distance away from her
mother but still in view when her mother noticed a Caucasian male, 60-70 years
old, 6’0” tall, 200 pounds with a prominent belly, grey short hair, wearing a light or
powder shirt, pants, and baseball cap, using a cane who was kneeling near the
four year old girl.
Thinking he was looking at merchandise near the girl she looked away but when
she looked back and saw that the man had put his hand under the girl’s dress
and was apparently touching her buttocks. The mother confronted the man and
he walked out of the store. Store management was alerted and they followed the
man outside and observed him to enter a burnt orange, newer model SUV,
boxlike shape, similar to a Hummer but smaller.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Davis is urged to call the
Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
