United Party of Canada

Committed to Unity. Committed to Efficiency. Committed to Canada.

Our Mission:
The United Party of Canada is committed to helping Canadians reach their full potential. We will build better
infrastructure across the country; to move Canadians faster. We will cut subsidies to oil companies; to invest
into renewable energy. We will increase funding to healthcare to make it faster when you need it most. We will
revise our electoral system to revitalize our democracy. Lastly, we will revive Canadas peacekeeping legacy; to
promote world peace. The United Party of Canada is committed to unity, efficiency and most importantly,
committed to Canada.
Energy Policy:
The United Party of Canada is committed to balancing economic efficiency and focusing on the environment.
Our economy needs to become more diversified to compete in the global market. Oil prices are plummeting and
beyond that, oil has a negative impact on Canadas beautiful environment. Because of this, we believe that using
taxpayer dollars to subsidize oil companies is no longer in the best interest of Canadians. We will eliminate
these subsidies and utilize this capital to invest in infrastructure as well as nuclear energy across Canada. By
building new efficient and environmentally friendly nuclear power generators in more provinces, we can take
steps towards becoming a world leader in nuclear energy, revitalizing our economy, as well as generating
cleaner electricity and becoming a more environmentally friendly nation.
Health Policy:
The UPC is devoted to the lives of all Canadians. We believe in a free healthcare system that is efficient and
accessible. We plan on implementing a universal wait list, which will allocate patients to any available doctor
and drastically reduce wait times across Canada. Currently, there is a dramatic healthcare gap between
Aboriginal Canadians and non-Aboriginal Canadians. We believe in having an accessible healthcare system for
all Canadians, and so the UPC plans to construct healthcare centers in the 200 most populous reserves. We also
realize that healthcare isn't just about the doctors who prescribe medicine, but also about the medicine, and
that's why the UPC plans on launching a national plan to make access to medication fair and equitable to all
Canadians. Canada is the only nation in the world with a universal healthcare program that does not cover
prescription drugs. It's time we changed that, and make access to pharmaceuticals fair and equitable for all
Canadians. Over 90% of Canadians want the government to implement a national universal pharmacare
program, and a UPC government will do just that. We will guarantee that all Canadians, regardless of
socioeconomic status, do not have to worry about whether they can afford their medication, ensuring that
Canada is a healthier country.
Miliatry Policy:
The United Party of Canada believes that a military doesn't have to be aggressive to be effective. Our policy on
Terrorism is to fight it as necessary, meaning if a terrorist group isn't a threat to Canada then it isn't Canada's job
to attack. The UPC is also dedicated to humanitarian missions. Our military is ready to help with natural
disasters, disease outbreaks and any other humanitarian mission that may occur in the coming years.

Electoral Reform Policy:

The United Party of Canada is committed to implementing a more proportional and fair electoral system
which increases voter engagement. We believe that Direct Party and Representative voting (DRP) is the best
alternative to the flawed first past the post system we currently utilize for our national elections. DRP is a
proportional representation system, similar to the more popular Mixed Member proportional system with a
number of small but significant changes that make it the right choice for Canada. On Election Day, Canadian's
would cast two ballots, one for their local MP (as they do now), and one for their preferred party. The MP with
the most votes would become the local MP, however, their "voting power" in parliament would be proportional
to the number of votes their party receives. DRP is a simple system which would require only minor changes to
the electoral process, and solves every major issue FPTP voting struggles with, including wasted votes, and
does not require complicated vote counting, multimember constituencies, or undemocratic "party lists" like
other voting systems. The UPC believes that creating fair, proportional, and engaging national elections in
Canada is important to strengthening our democracy, and that DRP achieves this effectively and efficiently
Infrastructure Policy:
The United Party of Canada will connect Canadians with more and faster transit. In the next ten years
we will invest $20 billion into infrastructure. As the UPC believes that great cities deserve major transit, this
includes funding devoted to the building and improvement of rapid-transit routes to get people and industry
moving faster. Funding will also be dedicated to much-needed infrastructure development in the northern
territories and Labrador, as well as Canada-wide contributions to municipal and provincial projects. We will
dedicate our efforts toward a faster, more connected Canada.
