The motion was made to dispense with the minutes from the previous meeting. Motion was
seconded and carried.
Kathy DeMay reported that there was $7,443.68 as of September 4 and with some expenses out
between then and the meeting we now have $5,600.00. In the youth account there is $3,835.39 and
$500 was given to the Ambassador for expenses.
We have 2 scholarship winners this year. They are Ryan Willits and Katie.
Gordy DeMay is going to head up the selection for the Spring Sale.
National report from Jeff True: There are a couple changes for juniors. Now 2 juniors can own an
animal. Also juniors can buy a milking cow and show it that year. They are also talking about lowering
the starting age of juniors from 9 to 8 years old. Anyone buying embryos needs to make sure the flush
was registered. Progressive sires released 4 bulls this year. They are looking for nominations for next
year and the bull has to be genomic tested.
Merchandise: Caitlin Rusnica is going to take over the merchandise.
National Convention: They have a contract in hand for a hotel but they are still checking it over and
havent signed yet. The hotel is asking for a $6,100 deposit or direct billing. Katie and Darin are talking
to Kathi Brown Meier for pointers. Kathy DeMay is going to be the convention treasurer. The finance
committee for the convention will be chaired by Don Partridge and Kathy DeMay will be on the
committee. They are looking for people to donate money for the convention either by donating semen
in sales or a calf or part of the money from a calf. Right now its just a Brown Swiss convention until
Ayrshire figures out what they are doing.
Jeff True moved for Kathy DeMay to write a letter to the New England Association and a few state
associations asking for donations or loans to help fund the convention. It was seconded. Motion
carried.
The Bellringer contest was discussed on how to get more juniors to participate. Don Partridge moved to
give all $50 to every junior that enters the Bellringer contest with a professional picture for next year.
The motion was seconded by Leon Button. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:49. Teri Martin seconded the motion.
