Ethics for firefighters.
My career goal is to become a Firefighter and the standards I reviewed
are listed above. The standards I find most important are #13, #12,
and #1.
Code of Ethics #13 states Never discriminate on the basis of race,
religion, color, creed, age, marital status, national origin, ancestry,
gender, sexual preference, medical condition or handicap. This code
belongs under the Affective domain because it deals with the personal
feelings of an individual in the fire service.
Code of Ethics #12 states Never engage in activities involving alcohol
or other substance use or abuse that can impair my mental state or
the performance of my duties and compromise safety. This code
belongs under the Phychomotor Domain because it deals with not
using drugs/alcohol which will impair motor functions and will cause us
as firefighters to not be able to treat patients the best we can.
Code of Ethics #1 states Always conduct myself, on and off duty, in a
manner that reflects positively on myself, my department and the fire
service in general. This code belongs under the Affective Domain
because it deals with the social behavior of a individual firefighter, asking
that the firefighter not forget that his actions 24/7 reflect not only on
themselves but the fire service in general.
