THE BRIEF

To create a British multi genre music channel for the

target audience of youths and young adults.

IDEA 1
The concept:
Two blob characters are listening to an up to date music track (e.g. punk/heavy metal genre), from a large
set of headphones and modern smart phone/I phone.
One of the blob characters is upper class with a sophisticated moustache, bow tie and top hat.
The other wears a punk leather jacket with silver studs and Mohican hair style.
The Mohican blob asks the upper class blob Tea Gov?, which the upper class blob replies with Oh yes
quite indeed Winifred (name is subject to change).
Additionally it may also be female, to provide gender appeal.
Initially the music is muffled, but after the blobs conversation, the music increases in clarity and pitch. The
setting and blobs fade away and the logo Uzic appears.
As the characters are listening to the music, I may apply a punk/rock themed music for humorous appeal in
seeing miniature and considerably adorable characters listening to loud raving music.
Also, I may apply a shake effect, such as making the characters appear back and fourth to convey the
setting to vibrate from the loud sound of the music. This would give of a rather lively vibe to the channel,
appealing to youths and young adults, who usually like to go out partying and listen to loud music coming
from big stereo speakers.
Despite the target audience being young, the use of eccentric British characters (I.e. upper class with
moustache and top hat and punk character with Mohican) will be familiar and thus appealing to British
youths and young adults. Additionally seeing them listen to modern technology and yet retain their clich
traits (e.g. upper class character speaking in a refined manner) could potentially set out as ironic humor.

CONCEPT
ART

Storyboard

Thinking behind the concept and how audiences will relate to it?
The concept of two blob characters wearing human clothing and hair styles, as well as speaking in high pitched, but yet
easily recognizable English accents, is a surreal and humorous concept. Additionally the contrast between a punk
character and upper class signifies the channel to incorporate different genres of music for different people.
The target audience (I.e. youths and young adults) typically like to buy large headphones ( a current trend) as well as buy
the latest gadget. Additionally the broad ranges of audiences enjoy viewing animations and especially youths and young
adults will potentially be intrigued, especially due to the controversy of eccentric characters engage in the audiences
trend of listening to music on phones, creating appeal and humor.

IDEA 1: COLOR
PALETTE

A mix of bold and light toned colors.

The Blob characters may have a light toned blue and lime green color applied, or a more bolder color.

The background will be white, so to allow for the blob characters to be more easily visible and visually appealing.

Alternatively a light pink/orange background may be applied, so as to give an even more colorfully vibrant setting, but
while still applying a light tone, to go easy on audiences eyes.

The use of light toned colors will hopefully contain a rather fun and bright young vibe to the UZIC channel, enforcing to
youths and young adults that the channel is targeted to them.

1. My initial idea for the logo is this.

IDEA 1:
TYPOGRAPHY
STYLES

The U in Uzic can be represented as a headphone, with the wire forming the required curve at the bottom of
the U.
Sequentially it can further connotes the channel to be intended for music, while appealing to current audiences
trends of buying large head phones.
For ZIC in UZIC, I decided to apply a Disco Night font from http://
www.dafont.com/disconight.font?text=ZIC&back=theme. I may change the white gaps into varied flashing
colors, to give visual appeal as well as connate an energetic and young vibe to the channel, appealing to the
target audience.
A large headphone for the U will be a recognizable symbol of music, especially for youths and young adults,
creating immediate appeal and implying the channel to accommodate music for their generation.

Another typography font to consider:

This font has a smooth cool and rather
young soft vibe to the channel, implying it
to accommodate music suited to the target
audience.

IDEA 1: STATIC USES OF THE BRAND

Effectiveness:
The first static image of the brand, clearly features an up to date head phone and
smart phone, immediately intriguing youths and young adults (who often like to buy
these items). Using the surreal blob characters to engage with the logo creates more
intriguing and potentially humorous appeal to.
The second static image meanwhile shows a crowd of people cheering at a stage ( a
trend appealing to youths and young adults as they often enjoy going to concerts).
Showing the blob characters on stage give humorous appeal once more, due to them
now being incorporated into the human world.
Additionally the use of a loud speaker and violin implies how the channel
accommodates different types of music for different people.

IDEA 2:

The concept:

A rather dull logo for Uzic is sat in a field environment, when suddenly a
U.F.O hovers above the logo and beams it up.

The logo is dropped back down, looking more futuristic and U.F.O flies away.

The setting may fade to black, with the logo still staying.

This concept may appeal to audience due to Sci fi concept of a U.F.O being
surreal and sudden, as well as appealing to youths current trends of Sci fi
appeal.

Additionally the concept of a logo standing in a field is surreal, but rather

plain and dull. Therefore audiences can be put of guard.

IDEA 2: STORYBOARD

IDEA 2: COLOR PALETTE

My considered color palette for this Ident would be a slightly more bolder and medium tone of green (field) and blue
(sky) as well as grey for the U.F.O.

This would help to make the refined logo at the end stand out more and connote the channel as being fresh and young.

Additionally the use of it brightly contrasting with the rather dull location can further connotate the channel as being the
highlight of people day/television viewing and its distinction against other channels, implying it to be the one for viewers
to watch.

I may try to apply an almost grass resembling texture to the green field, to
give the location a more realistic tone, thus being more visually engaging.

Space ship beam lights (to beam logo

up) The use of light green rays
beaming the logo up, connotate the
future (I.e. spaceship) lightening up
rather dull programs (I.e. dull UZIC
logo) into something refreshing,
represented by the new logo at the end.

IDEA 2:
LOGO

Initial font: This font (typo round from Dafont.com) is reasonably attractive, but not enough to be visually engaging. I may apply
either a white or black color to the logo, so its transformation contrasts greatly, from turning to plain, to refreshing and young.

Final font: This font (Neon from Dafont.com) has a more slick, steel
futuristic personae, giving of a more up to date and considerably
cool vibe to the channel. It also sets as a great contrast between
how the font originally looked.
I may apply a neon pink/purple color style, as it is a popular color
choice around youth/young adult centered channels, such as BBC
3. The light tone of pink gives of a young and rather partying vibe,
appealing to trends of youths and young adults (I.e. partying).

IDEA 2: TYPOGRAPHY

This Magnum font has a

bold and slick
futuristically young style.
Potentially being visually
engaging to the target
audiences eye.

IDEA 2: STATIC USES OF THE BRAND

Effectiveness:
The scenario of the logo heading towards planet earth implies the logo to be something new and
undiscovered. Intriguing audiences into wanting to watch it.
The second static use meanwhile emphasises how the UZIC channel will force its way onto
peoples Television and perhaps it making a new dynamic output, challenging all other channels.
Thus conveying the channel to potentially be the one to watch.

Thank you for watching.
