Description of activity undertaken (please be as specific as possible)

1)

Describe the contributions to the display & the reasons behind their choices of visual merchandising techniques (refer to
your notes in the observation record and record your audio conversation for submission).

Nicola stated that a lot of the aspects mentioned to be convenient such as the free-flow layout, the aisle size provided to
consumers, all of which aimed to gain the attention of the consumer, he noted that what was on display was messy but worked
effectively in drawing the attention towards specific products, e.g the calendars, umbrellas.
He stated how the use of colour benefited both the company and the potential amount of sales made, due to the phycological
effects, (blue evokes trust).
2)

Evaluate the success of your visual merchandising (strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to improve the display in the
future)
Nicola gave great points on improving visuals, points such as price tags, the products had no indication of price which left
customers clueless and therefor prevented possible sales, other then this he mentioned that using products could have made a
better impact towards the consumer.
Overall the planogram proved effective in gaining the attention of the consumer, and even made a sale (from the time that was
given).

Assessment and grading criteria

For P4 You must plan a safe and stimulating visual merchandising display.
For P5 Once approval on your idea has been given, you can now start work on assembling your display. It is entirely up to you what you create
but you may need to justify your choices later. To gather evidence, take photographs of your display in the construction process as well as when
it is finished.

M3 Teachers, visitors and fellow students will visit your display. You must explain the reasons behind the key choices in your display.

For D2 After you have received feedback from your display from your visitors, you must now submit a full evaluation of the success of your
display.

How the activity meets the requirements of the assessment and grading criteria,
including how and where the activity took place
Witness, make notes to summarise this answer here.
Nicola evaluated his planogram very effectively, he went over all the relevant features that are used in Visual Merchandising and
explained how it was effective but also gave his thoughts on what to improve on. We were slightly disturbed, but overall his
answers made sense and explained his thoughts clearly
