Here are some general guidelines for developing your research project.
1. Develop your proposed research project on a
topic of interest.
2. There is no required length for this report; it
should be of sufficient length to adequately
cover your thoughts and your plans for
application of those thoughts.
a. The pages should be double-spaced and
have 1 margins on all sides.
b. References are required, and references
should be listed and conform to the American Psychological
Association (APA) guidelines for citations and the listing of
references.
3. Finished research project papers are to be submitted to the instructor
for grading and feedback via the SafeAssign Link in Blackboard.
There is a specific outline below for you to follow when writing your
research project. (See Part J, topics 75-82 in our text for further specifics.)
Also, you may wish to take a look at the rubric for this project, which can
be found in the Course Documents tab.
Please describe your project in sections as outlined below. (Refer to the
Assignment Rubric for specific details.) Use the headings, which have
been provided. Double space your report and indent the first line of each
paragraph. (Note: The following example is single spaced to minimize the
length of these instructions.)

Abstract
Summarize the problem you are researching. Provide a literature review of
your topic and explain why you believe it is beneficial to research this
particular topic.

State your research hypothesis or research question.

Define the general type of study you will be conducting. Specify if it is an
experimental or non-experimental (descriptive) study and why. In
addition, define the specific descriptive or experimental study design you
used.
Review of Literature
Conduct a review of the relevant literature. Use the guideline provided.
Method
Participants
Identify the major demographic characteristics of your
participants/subjects. Explain how your participants/subjects were
identified and, if applicable, how they were assigned to your experimental
and treatment groups.
Instrumentation
Describe your measurement tools.
Procedures
Describe how you conducted the study. Be sure to specify what specific
type of descriptive or experimental study design you will be using.
Data Analysis
You will not be collecting data, but will create a fictional data set as well
as describe the data methodology (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed) you
used in the study. You will then summarize the fictional data collected
and how this data was analyzed.
Results
Describe the results you achieved in the study.
Discussion
Specify how the results of this study will impact your practice or the field
of education in general. List any potential threats to the results and
alternative explanations for the results you have described.
