Track 1- Notorious B.I.G Hypnotize

The genre of this track is contemporary R&B, this is because it has a
mixture of different elements blues, soul, funk, hip hop and dance
all these elements together made the track rhythmical and it
flowed. There are also some environmental sound effects this
enhances the effect of realism. The track has a mid-tempo. The
track also has some elements of dance inside, when you listen
carefully to the drum kit that is being used you realize a pattern that
is taking place. There is a snare that is being used mixed together
with chords. A guitar and a piano mostly drive the track. To record
the vocals they would have used condenser microphone with a
cardioid polar pattern, they use these to pick up sound distributions
from the front of the microphone, and example of this would be a
Rode NT2A as a modern day example. The electronic drum would
be sequenced using a drum machine The sample would be
sequenced using Digital Audio this helps secure the chances of the
track sounding good at a good quality sonically. In this period they
would have not used tape to produce the track they would have
produced it using CDs because at this time CDs were available and
easier to use 1997. Digital also gives better fidelity
.

Track 2 Johnny Cash Ring of Fire

The genre of this track is country but it also features elements of
blues. This is because of the types of instruments have been mixed
together to outline the melody. The rhythm of the track is driven by
the brass, as we can hear that the brass last throughout the whole
track. This track has a mid-tempo speed, which means all the
instruments involved have the same speed and the same volume
level, therefore there is no distortion caused during the track, which
makes the melody and harmony sound clean. This track would have
been recorded using vinyl and then given out using a cassette, and
then using the power of an ACD it was converted digitally. The
fidelity of the track is low. This would have been recorded using a
condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern; this will aloud
sound to be picked up from the front of the microphone rather than
the back of the microphone. Because this was recorded in 1983 this
means that this song would have been played on a gramophone,
gramophone record sound with a small needle which fits into the
flow in the recording.
Track 3 Howling wolf smokestack lighting

Timmy unit 48 assignment 48

The genre of this track would be considered to be blues. The track
was released in 1956. The limitations of this track would be that,
because it was done using vinyl this meant that the track is
analogue therefore the engineer couldnt edit the track. The
limitations that the engineer would have faced was that editing the
track as it was only recorded on tape, therefore or them to be able
to edit it on tape they would have needed to cut and glue the rape
together over and over again, if they made a mistake they would
have to start all over again from scratch. For example if a
phonograph were used they wouldnt be able to edit it as it was
recorded using vinyl. Another type of limitations the engineer might
have faced would be that the engineer would only be able to
produce mono sounds instead of actually making stereo sounds, this
wouldnt let him edit to the best of the abilities to make the track
very good. The quality of the fidelity is very low.

Track 4 Prodigy No Good

The genre of this tack is dance. This is dance as many types of
instruments in the track drive the rhythm. This track features
electronic drums and electric guitars, this track is up-tempo all
together the instruments make harmony and melody this makes the
tack sound in sync. The way the speed was achieved was by using
flextime, which is located on logic pro x these speeds up the singers
vocals. Using logic, by recording the drums, would have sequenced
the drums or by using midi which u can create sounds and beats
from on logic. Using midi to create the sound needed for this track
would have sequenced the Synthesizer. This track is digital because
it was released in 1994, and at that time digital was more popular
than analogue.
