This week I focused on scales and sight reading. I focused on playing one octave in each of the scales repeatedly. I also used a metronome to get them up the right tempo and improve fluency.

I focused on playing one octave in each of the scales repeatedly, followed by
the second and third octave to get the fingering and tuning correct. I also used a metronome to get them up the right tempo and improve fluency. During the double stopping scales I focussed on my breathing throughout to stop myself from tensing my hand if I play wrong notes or go out of tune. This helps to keep me more focussed and calm throughout a practice session. When sight reading I made myself look at the time and key signature first and keep a bit in my head before playing. I find the double stopping in 6ths and thirds very difficult to play as you have to keep two notes in tune and it uses tricky hand shapes. I also find it difficult to play the scales when they reach the last octave as it is very high and involves tricky fingering. I have been playing scales mainly and have focussed on fluency and precision. Each practice session I have: -Used a metronome -Focussed on my breathing before playing, during and after -Made sure that my bow hand is in the correct shape, considering the articulation of the scale - Elbow in in the right possision
-Heard the pitch of the next note(s) in my head before playing them
