A customer focussed role dealing directly with members of the public in both recreational and
emergency situations, public bodies, law enforcement organisations, emergency services, prestigious
sailing clubs, and commercial companies operating within the Harbour.
The role encompasses a broad range of skills that are directly translatable to a business
development/direct sales/account management function. A summary of these key skills are listed
below:
Proactive promotion of Chichester Harbour and its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Communication of safety related messages to a wide range of customers via direct
interaction, presentations and meetings at senior levels, all with a customer satisfaction focus.
Managing and developing revenue streams.
Working both alone and within a team including training, motivation and mentoring staff
members.

Analysis and evaluation of information coming from a variety of sources, from members of
the public to agencies such as Border Agencies and Coast Guard. Requiring a quick and
accurate level of decision-making.
Cash management, reconciliation and forecasting.
Capital budget preparation
Development and implementation of marketing and information campaigns, such as
promoting our services at boat shows and sailing clubs. In order to increase the level of
harbour users, which in turn has increased our revenues.
Identification and interworking with partner organisations that delivered improved sales and
financial results
Conflict management and negotiation in time-critical and stressful situations
Practical maintenance duties against aggressive time and cost constraints
First aid activities ranging from minor wounds to fatal emergencies
Enforcement of Harbour Bye Laws, delivery of notices of prosecution and witness supporting
statements in court

Additional Information

Represented Chichester Rugby Football Club for 13 years,

Sailing instructor

I have been teaching young sailors and trying to develop them so they can be picked for the club
team in the years to come. As well as teaching these juniors I do teach some adults, and have no
problem talking to people of any age. Motivating others to enable efficient teamwork is something I
also like to do.
Self motivation has been one of my strengths through my education and sporting commitments,
when set goals or targets to strive for I will commit myself one hundred percent and dedicate all the
time I have into achieving those goals/targets.
