Multiplexing is a very important process in telecommunications industry since it makes an

effective use of available bandwidth by allowing several transmission sources to share a large
transmission capacity. A common application of multiplexing is long haul communication
whereby trunks in long haul networks are high capacity fibre, coaxial or microwave which carry
large number of voice and data transmission simultaneously.
