Report
France, or what some people call the French Republic, is a country locate in
western Europe and borders several countries (including Belgium, Germany, Italy,
Monaco, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Andorra, and Spain). It is a founding member of the
European nation. The large tracts of fertile land, along with modern technology, are the
reason that France is the leading producer of agriculture in Western Europe. Though
France lost Algeria in the sixties, it still remains one of the most important and influential
countries in the world. The government controls certain key segments which include
railway, electricity, aircraft, and telecommunication firms.
France and ten other EU members launched the euro on January 1, 1996, which
happens to be Frances national currency. France has the official language of French,
and its capital would be Paris, France. Its largest city is also Paris, and the President is
Jacques Chirac. The Prime Minister is Jean-Pierre Raffarin. France is currently ranked
twentieth in area, which happens to be 547,030 Km^2. France has the water
percentage of .26 percent. France is ranked 47 th in population. As of 2003, the
population of France was 60,180,529. The density of France is 110/km^2. The national
anthem of France is the La Marseillaise.
Religion is very private in France. It was in the 1789 Declaration of the Right of
Man and of Citizen, that France guaranteed freedom of religion as a constitutional right.
It wasnt until 1905 though until the separation of Church and State was established; it
also prohibited the government from recognizing, salarying or subsidizing any religion.
Before this began, in 1801-1808 of the Concordat, the State used to support the Roman

Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church, the Calvinist Church and the Jewish religion to
provide public religious education for these religions. The French though does not keep
statistics as to religion. The 2003 CIA World Factbook lists the religion of France as the
following: Roman Catholic- 83-88%, Protestant-2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim (North African
workers) 5-10%, unaffiliated 4%. It is still unclear where these three numbers came
from. However, a recent poll tax discovered that 41% of people say that the existence
of God is excluded or: unlikely. It also showed that 33% declared that atheist
described them rather or very well, and 51% for Christian. After being questioned about
their religion, citizens began answering what religion they are. It showed 62% Roman
Catholic, 6% Muslim, 2% Protestant, 1% Jewish, 2% other religions, 26% no religion,
and 1% refused to answer. In France there is a wide gap for the existence between civil
life and religion, for in France, religion is very private. Islamic fundamentalism is
considered a big treat in France for they fear it affects with the French society where
communitarism is not accepted. This had already occurred before 1789 due to the
Catholics.

Update on Religion Percentage (Estimate)

France has other statistics one may need to know. It contains around 36,000 towns and
villages, has 964,356 km of roads, and 31,940 km of railway. The coastline is 3120 km,
which has 4 sea fronts (the North Sea, the Channel, the Atlantic Ocean and the
Mediterranean) with 5500 km of coastline. There are 6000 species of plants that live
here, and 200 species are specific to France. An interesting fact is that France has 365
different sources of cheese, one for each day of the year.
The culture of France is very civilized. France is known for its great concern for
style, fashion, and appearance. French people also take very much pride in their
national identity and achievements they have made throughout history. French people
are also known to greet people formally with the use of words such as Madame,
Mademoiselle, or Monsieur in order to show respect for that individual. The French are
very much into theatrical and musical arts, the art of cooking, and value family life.

The politics of France would also be important to understand the France society.
The constitution of the Fifth Republic was approved by public referendum on September
28, 1958. This was due to the fact that it strengthened the executive in relation to
Parliament. In France, the president is elected directly and serves for a five year term.
The National Assembly is the principle legislative body. Its deputies are also elected for
five year terms. Senators are elected by an electoral college for nine year terms, and
one-third of the senators are renewed every three years.

As stated before, food is a passion for many French people. The main reason French
food in France is always good is that its soil provides all the fresh produce that makes
their famous foods. The soil is most suitable for grapes, in which France makes the
best wine in the world with them. Food and alcohol are very important roles in the
French society for what and how they eat reflects their heritage, region of birth, social

status, and health. The baguette, a long, thin loaf of crusty bread, is the most import
part of the French meal for everyone is expected to eat a piece.
Traveling in France is the same as going to most places. The cost to fly from the
U.S. to France caused around $200.00 per person. The way most people get around in
France is by walking. In France, there are subways that many people take as well in
order to get around along with taxis. Cars are in France, but not everyone actually has
a car for they walk to where they want to go since they have so many people living here.
If one was to go to France, they should pack extra money in case they want to take a
taxi or subway.
FBLA can help benefit all students and teachers by allowing a FBLA chapter.
FBLA can help each student gain skills that will allow them to potential start their own
business in the future. Teaching students valuable business skills will help them
understand the fundamentals of a company, and if they were to work for a company,
students should have enough information in order to understand how the company is
run so that they could eventually work their way up the ladder into a management
position. FBLA would also give students and teachers leadership skills that will become
handy in the real world. Having these leadership skills will prepare students to
understand what it takes in order to become the leader of something. In fact, it will
allow students to observe how without a leader, there will be no following. It will also
show students that becoming a leader is a lot of responsibility, and they must be willing
to step up to the challenge if they want to become that leader. FBLA can also help
teachers by allowing them to gain some skills they could otherwise use in the
classroom. It will help them establish other teaching methods in order to entertain the

students rather than just teaching the subject. It will allow teachers to be informed of
how to get students attention in order for the student to actually learn the material.
FBLA will also help students figure out what they want to do in life. It will show them not
only what it takes to get in the business field, but in almost all the fields, for it takes
leadership to obtain a management position. FBLA allows students to search for what
they are good at leading. FBLA allows students to gain confidence by allowing them to
get used to presenting and speaking in front of people. It will allow them to be able to
give presentations or speeches in front of their class or even a large audience. These
speaking skills will also be utilized in the real world as well. FBLA also teaches students
and even teachers interviewing skills. This allows students to gain interviewing skills so
that they can obtain a successful interview by preparing them with potential questions
and getting them used to the environment. In the end, FBLA is great for everyone for it
teaches everyone skills that they could utilize on day to day bases.
Social Media can enhance communication and opportunities majorly. Social
media allows information to be given to a large population with just a click of the button.
Social media has allowed millions of students, teachers, parents, and citizens to be
informed of events quicker than ever. Social media can e a powerful tool if used in the
right way. Since so many people use social media such as Facebook and Twitter, it will
allow companies to be able to sale to an all new group of people. Companies can even
provide the feature of letting customers pay online and all the company has to do is ship
it to the customer. Getting information to a larger population through social media will
increase sales, which in return, increases profit to expand the business even more.
Social media is such an impacting source. Companies can easily set up pages that

inform users about their company and all the different products or services the company
offers. It will reduce the amount of confusion on customers for they can now
understand what the company is and what it has to offer. Giving contact information
online will also allow customers to easily find companies information if they needed to
call or ask a question about the company. Social media will allow the company to grow
to a bigger company than it was before by just using social media. Though a company
shouldnt rely on social media, it is a very good idea to use social media in order to
reach out to a bigger audience.
A possible project that would be good to create would be something called the
Business Service Project. Since FBLA is an organization that teaches students
valuable business skills, then it would be in the best interest for students to go see real
world businesses and let them help out. This project is related to the Community
Service Project, but it is specifically designed for students to give back to the companies
that make our everyday life easier. One could establish three different levels by giving
the first award to those who serve thirty hours at a company. The second award would
be given to those who completed eighty hours of business service. The last level would
be given to those who have completed 150 hours of service at a company in their
community. It is still important to establish community service, but it should be in the
best interest to start a project that gets students involved in companies since that is
what FBLA is centered around. The project will teach students the inside work of a
company. It will also teach students that without these people working in these
companies, our everyday life would be so much harder and completely different. It will
show that if it wasnt for these workers, we wouldnt have what we have now. The

10

project would just focus on the importance of giving back to the companies that have
made our lives easier.

Percentage of Exports in France

12

As you can see, this is the current reading for the amount of exports France has
had. It was going down dramatically between the years 2011 and 2013. It wasnt until
last year when France started to make more exports. On an earlier graph, you may
also recognize how this had affected the economy during this time period. It is because
of the exports that France had a change in its economy. France is close to the top of
the list in amount of money they earn each year because they send so many agricultural
items to other countries around the world. Since France has such fertile soil and grows
the most agricultural products, it makes its money by selling the products they dont
need in exchange for other items they need that France cannot obtain by itself. It is for
the agriculture that France is where it is financially.
France is a magical place that many people describe as one of the most beautiful
places in the world. That is why France has so many tourists. Paris, France is also
known for the Eiffel Tower, which is why so many tourists come and spend time here.
France also makes good money due to the attraction the tower gets. France is also
known for its since of style, which is why many designers come here to study for it is
the styling capital of the world people believe. French is also the language of love
which is why many people from other countries study the language, which so happens
to the official language of France. This also is why people come to France, to search for
the love of their life.
